Rion had returned to the castle. His face looked very tense. He strode with long steps down the corridor without ever turning to look at the servants and soldiers who saluted him. Usually, even though his expression was always flat, he still smiled at those who greeted him or saluted him. However, not this time.
His attitude made some of the castle dwellers think that he was again possessed by an 'evil spirit'.
"Trishy, what happened to my brother?" asked Anwen, blocking Trish's steps at the entrance.
As usual, it was really hard to get Trish to tell the truth. He always kept a close lid on everything that had to do with the king's mental state.
Meanwhile, Odette, who was looking for Anwen, accidentally ran into Rion. Odette noticed the figure of the man who continued to approach her.
'What's with him?' Odette wondered inwardly, seeing Rion's tense face.
She ran to follow Rion who had made a turn, and after a while, she was now standing in front of a door, which was none other than the door of the king's room. From the gaps in the door that wasn't tightly closed, she saw Rion was pacing back and forth like he was worried about something.
'What happened? Did he do something bad again to someone else while he was unconscious?'
Rion, who realized that the door to his room was not tightly closed, immediately walked over to close the door and locked it from the inside, while Odette immediately moved away from the door and pressed herself against the wall.
She was relieved that Rion didn't see her. If she was caught peeking, surely Rion would really think of her as a flirt, but she was really curious as to why Rion looked so agitated. Odette looked around.
After making sure that no one had seen her peeking into the king's room, she started looking for a peephole to see what Rìon was doing in there, but she found no peephole at all. She put her ear to the door, hoping she could hear something.
Meanwhile, in his room, Rion, who had been pacing restlessly, was sitting on the edge of the bed. He brushed his face roughly and rubbed his cold palms together. In his mind, he imagined the incident when he was monitoring a resident's house.
At that time, he was standing in the midst of the citizens who were seriously injured because of his actions. Lucifer was making trouble again and Rion was the one who had to take responsibility for it. He injured his people without him knowing it.
Luckily, there were no casualties as Trish got in his way, and Rion managed to gain control of himself quickly.
Rion ruffled his hair in frustration as he recalled all the citizens staring at him, full of fear. He came to help the citizens, but he almost took their lives. He couldn't imagine that if he killed the people there, he would once again experience the greatest regret of his life.
He always wanted to give a sense of security to his people, but the biggest threat to his people was himself.
Rion laid down on the bed and tried to calm down. Lately, Lucifer had been appearing frequently and taking over his body. Why? What happened?
He closed his eyes, but when his eyes closed, he saw himself standing in the dark, holding a sword covered in blood.
"I'll kill you like you killed Rose."
The figure of himself that he saw, was staring very coldly and also very sharply. It was Lucifer. In his mind, Rion saw Lucifer running towards him, then leaping with the raised sword to slash.
"Ah!" Rion woke up startled and slightly out of breath. His heart was pounding and he started sweating.
He then got out of bed and walked towards the door and…
"Aagh!"
BANG!
Odette, who was pressing her ear to the door, immediately fell down when the door was suddenly opened from the inside.
"Ouch! That hurts..." Odette got up and sat on her knees, holding her nose which was red from hitting the floor.
"You?" Rion furrowed his brows.
Odette looked up and saw Rion who was looking at her cynically. She was so embarrassed, she felt like running and jumping into the sea.
"What are you doing here?" Rion asked when Odette had just stood up.
“I-I, I … um … I … um …” Odette stammered. She simply couldn't come up with an excuse to cover her embarrassment. How awful! She could only curse herself.
"I … hehe." She stepped back slowly with a slight smile. She looked very embarrassed. "I … I just … I'm going first,” she said, then turned around and immediately wanted to run, but she was surprised when her wrist was suddenly grabbed by Rion.
Seriously!
Odette bit her lower lip. Rion definitely wouldn't let her go before she answered his question. Oh, what should she reply? Odette racked her brain to come up with an excuse but she couldn't find any.
Odette let out a tired sigh then decided to tell the truth. She turned to look at Rion, but before she could speak, Rion had pulled her into the room and quickly locked the door.
"W-what?!" Odette was shocked. Instantly, her mind boggled. She backed away slowly as Rion stepped slowly towards her. Odette tensed, she looked left and right, looking for an object that could be used as a weapon, but strangely the room was empty.
There was no furniture whatsoever. There was only a bed, a sofa, and a wooden wardrobe which had no mirror. Not finding any hard objects, Odette could only reach for the pillow. "Don't mess around, I'm warning you!" she said as she got into a stance.
Rion stopped his steps and looked straight at Odette. "Can you really help me?" he asked, which made Odette a little surprised.
"You … what did you say?" Odette lowered her pillow.
Ron didn't answer. He just looked at Odette flatly but looked desperate. Seeing that, all the tension that Odette felt disappeared. The woman cleared her throat and neutralized her expression.
For a while Odette looked at Rion in silence.
"Of course," she said, then followed Rion, who walked and sat on the sofa. Odette wondered in her mind what made Rion suddenly want to accept her help? Even when Odette offered to help, Rion was not at all interested. Had something bad happened when he left the castle?
"Hm?" She was slightly surprised when Rion suddenly placed a piece of paper on the table. "What is this?" She furrowed his brows in confusion.
"A check."
"What?" Odette's mouth opened slightly. Check? A check? She suddenly remembered when Anwen asked the woman who owned the shop about the bank.
"From now on, you will work as my personal doctor. You can write the amount of salary you want," said Rion, which made Odette almost couldn't believe her own ears.
