The morning seemed more normal than usual. Instead of being awake in the middle of the day, she had woken up quite on time. Just in time for her husband to get ready.
It was so satisfying to watch it get ready. Everything that Adrian did was timed, precise in manner and full of grace. When would say that he was a king who owned everything in the world the way he got ready.
"You know," Joyce said from the spot, "the only good thing. This whole thing has brought me is that I don't have to wake up early in the morning for training."
His shoulders moved and she could tell that he was having a laugh at this. "I see."
Adrian turned around. "That does remind me that I need to teach you better. You failed, miserably, at protecting yourself."
"Miserably?" She sat up. "It was two men against a woman. How in the world was I going to defend myself?"
