The date went surprisingly well. The rest of the night, smooth conversation flowed in between them like they had been friends for a very long time. It was mostly her talking and him responding and before they knew it, everything on the table was finished.
Joyce did not have an injury for desert. She was filled completely, but Adrian still insisted that she tried it, the desert, this place was known for. He was right, it was mind blowing.
The drive back home was silent. She did not initiate any conversation instead felt like she would fall asleep any moment.
While climbing the small set of stairs in the house with their hands held together, Adrian pulled her back slightly.
She bumped into him a little. Not expecting the pull, "what is it?"
He smiled reassuringly. "I have to go out for something. I will return late at night."
"Oh." Not what she had been, expecting him to say. But what could you do about it? "Good night then? Stay safe." She chuckled nervously.
