Chapter 15 - Getting Nowhere

After classes Maestro gave us the rundown on what they've found out about the arms dealer I told them that we needed their information so I would know the bastard's history. After learning he got his hand on a bullet with an usual material that I might need later on or sell for a good profit. I haven't told them about the bullet I have at hand I'll use that for my personal gain for now.

"Great job fighting out there you two we've secured a very good informant. But now since you've found an arms dealer that might have info about Null as per usual Vaughn targets the gunmen if they bought weapons off market I'm not disappointed but expected I guess."

"Yes, I do have a reason for this. I somewhat know this guy that sold these weapons I did my personal research about this bastard."

"Oh? Someone outselling you in the industry?"

"One haha very funny, two this man is a problem for the industry."

"For what Vaughn? Can you elaborate it?"

"This man possesses weapons I have yet to figure out due to its unusual properties. Knowing that he probably sold that mech we encountered yesterday was an interesting proof of concept. It was heavily flawed but it was proven to actually work in the field." As I explain to them that man is mine and mine alone as my target. Of course Maestro had his side of the idea.

"What about Natalie here you can't just make her stand around." Said Maestro as he continuously puffing his cigar. It's interesting Natalie wants to join in my fun.

"I knew you would say that my concern is Natalie's attacks can cause tons of collateral damage. Especially in the area I'm going at." The place is a tight spot. Lot's of houses right next to each other not much space to fight with unless using guns where its easier to pinpoint where you're shooting at rather than having to swing your sword potentially doing tons of collateral damage.

"I see it would be too risky hurting the civilians especially from what you've said." Natalie seems to had caught up with the problem of her being there that she might accidentally slice up an entire neighborhood by accident. Knowing that she can be pretty airheaded in a mission. I can't imagine the body count would mostly be innocent civilians.

"The what should Natalie do in this operation?" Now that Maestro mentioned it I think that the bastard might have a spare Mech lying around there I should let Natalie handle that giant mech if it does happen.

"I think Natalie you should be my support from a distance I want a person doing over watch anyways. Since I may not have the best view from the ground so I need someone up above." As I look at Natalie's questionable face.

"I guess so... Somebody has to check your six anyways." So Natalie agrees with me and becomes my support teammate for this operation. I'm quite surprised she's not disappointed on not joining in the battle. Was this the first time? I guess so this is the first time she's in the support role. Unfortunately due to the info I got from our recon team he's not there or not yet. He's gonna arrive in a few days so we have a room to breathe for now.

Also we have classes to be worried about first and also the potential terror that Null might bring to the kids. I can't imagine how pathetic it would be if they try to attack an innocent school. Let's not jinx that thought, and focus what is the status quo.

"Okay, since that's the plan you made and I don't have anymore questions you two can go home now. We have school works to do tomorrow" Said Maestro as he closes today's meeting.

The next days were dull... Weirdly off, it's not bad nor is it good. The students seem to be not bothered by it but I'm sure hell of it. Then again they don't know the world is at war right now. These children are caged anyways born rich and don't have a clue what the real world is. Except I guess from Miss Steph, I know she came from the same hell I went through when I was a child.

But seems they're as carefree as ever learning their best in a closed environment. I do hope they know how to handle the real world outside these tall walls. These kids really, once they're out there I do hope they don't go nowhere. I'm just as worried as the next teacher but as a cold-hard arms dealer and a contract killer at one point. How would Winston would tackle the truth when he realizes his father is an arms dealer.

I went back home as got a letter from an unknown sender. I sat down and opened up a bottle of scotch and began reading the letter.

"To Mr. Killjoy.

This shouldn't be surprise for you but we've been investigating about you and we indeed confirm you are the one we remember. How is it been Mr. Killjoy? Relaxing in your bed of ill-gotten gains? Hope your hunger for war is still fulfilled. We know you're worried about a common enemy called Null.

We know you're concerned about your students, the school, and the innocent in general. Have you gone that soft so called Mr. Killjoy? But I do give respect on your decision and its perfectly normal for you to be worried of your own students. We're always open for your return Mr. Killjoy if anything ever happens to you and the Organization... We'll be here waiting open arms to welcome you back with a welcoming gift for you too. I know you love your weapons and we have one here that's well suited to you.

We're just waiting for your return. You know us Mr. Killjoy... As long as we can they miss you, you know? But as long as you're not here, you know where it is right Mr. Killjoy? Don't lie to yourself, also we have agents scattered around you will never find them but they will support you as much as they possibly can in times when everything... Goes down.

Sincerely

Unknown"

They huh? Sip my scotch after thinking that they know my secret already and they found my location as well... I wasn't disappointed nor I was surprised. I lay down the letter on my table as I contemplate while I sip my scotch staring out the night sky.

"The future is unsure and unsettling. I love war, and I still do. As an Ex-Contract Killer that was a fun experience until I found myself at a point of diminishing results where it's fun until it gets too much. Then I found out... Why don't I supply the people who do wars in my stead rather than being in the frontlines? That means I'm one of the reasons why wars exists and at that moment I laughed so hard it gave me chest pain." I say these words to myself thinking that...

Maybe I could return if the time is right then... Maybe I will answer your request unknown sender.
