The meridian points technique was different. It required more time and insane precision to execute, but once the sequence was completed, the effect remained even when contact was released. The length of time the effect persisted depended on the difference of power between the executor and the target.
In Amon and Hu Ti's case, the effect should last only a minute. But in that one minute, Hu Ti had only one arm to use.
