I CONFESS IT WAS AMUSING TO SEE THE SHOCK ON their faces when they saw me all dressed elegantly. "What are you scheming?" Adonis hissed, suspiciously.
"Good morning, for you two," I said calmly and smiling when they refused to look in my eyes. "And I am not scheming anything, do not worry, Prince Adonis," I could see how he flinched to hear that. "Prince Sohan," I said to the other dog, who grinned amusedly.
"You are acting very strangely today, Princess," Sohan said, caressing his chin. "It's better than your usual arrogant self, though. So, I don't mind." He turned to Adonis, "Let's not judge her without knowing anything, alright? Remember what Dai did last time he judged her with no proof!"
Holding the urge to arch my eyebrows and ask what he knew about that, I stayed composed. "So, are you both here to accompany me during my day?"
Adonis was staring at me as if another head had grown in my neck. "This is giving me goosebumps, go back to being a terrible human being," ha, he was the terrible human being, this son of a bitch.
"I don't remember ever being a terrible human being, Prince Adonis. But if you are already calling me that without knowing me, then I guess it would be a waste of time to try persuading you of what you wouldn't believe. You chose to see me as a monster, as well as you chose to hate me. I can't do anything about it, it's your decision to make. However, that won't change who I am. And as someone, I used to know," Avy, "used to tell me; I am not what people say I am."
"Stop it, damn it. You are not being yourself," I wish I could smirk and curse him.
I blinked, unbothered, "Prince Adonis, I don't think you are in a place to be allowed to say that. I'm sorry, but you do not know me. You don't have the slightest idea of the person I am, of my favorite things, of my dreams, and fears, and even less of what goes on my mind. So, please, refrain from acting as if you knew me, it's uncomfortable. I'm a Princess, unmarried, and single, so, do not cross the line, or it'll taint my image."
He was speechless. "Your imagine is already tainted!"
"And how much of that is genuinely my fault, Prince Adonis?" I asked calmly with a soft smile, and he seemed to have been caught off guard. "Let's not keep talking about this, it's out of line." I turned to Sohan, "Prince Sohan, do you know where will be the girls' activities today?"
"On the Queen's garden. They will all showcase their artistic skills at the tea party with the Queen. She and Daisuke, who will be there as well, will be evaluating the girls," Sohan explained to me, avoiding my eyes. "Open activities in a crowded place," he resumed as if trying to give me a tip.
A tip that I understood right away. Turning back into my current chambers, I took the blindfold made of the same silk as my dress and held it over my eyes, then I headed out and turned my back to Sohan. "Prince Sohan, could you do me a favor and tie this for me, please?"
"Of course," he said and by the tone of his voice, I knew he was smiling. "You are actually very pleasant when you act like this, Thya," I felt a sudden happiness rush through me, hearing him call me that for the first time after asking forever.
And it was a spontaneous smile this time, "It's good to know that."
"Can you walk just fine like this?" I nodded.
"I was born with all of my senses extremely heightened. And thanks to the fact that I spent most of my life with the blindfold on, I can actually sense everything around me as if I was with my eyes open," but not using it, is still better.
Adonis scoffed sarcastically at that, "How unfair."
"What exactly is unfair, Prince Adonis?" I know his answer, but I still want to hear him say it.
"You shouldn't have been born with those senses of yours when you already had this curse. It's simply unfair. It makes me sick. You make me sick," oh, how I wish to smirk at this.
I sighed. "Indeed, it is unfair. However, the biggest unfairness in this entire situation, Prince, is that I was born with those eyes of mine. But what can we do? The Gods made me like this, I did not ask for it. After all, who would ask for the power to see people's death?" When Sohan was done, I turned to Adonis, "How would you feel if you woke up one day, and all of a sudden, you were able to see your own family's deaths? You can't look at their faces anymore. You can't even look at yourself in the mirror. And it all happened out of nowhere. How would you feel?"
He groaned, "I would hate it. It would be terrifying. But it's not like you became like this out of nowhere," he seemed quite sure about that.
"Wasn't it?" I asked softly, not bothering in withholding my sadness. "You really thought that?"
I heard when he gulped. But it was Sohan who spoke. "Was it out of nowhere?"
"Yes," sigh. "I was alright, sleeping with my mom and my dad, and when I woke up... My head hurt like hell, and my eyes bleeding nonstop. But the worst was that, the second I woke up, mom was looking at me, and with no control over it, it was the first death I saw. My mother's," taking a deep breath, I brushed off the sadness and put a smile on. "I don't expect you to believe me. It's just my point of view in the story, but it's not like any of you ever bothered to know that, right? To know how was it for me?"
"Thya..." Sohan began and I could see how he was insecure.
"It's alright. Really. I'm an adult now, what happened when I was three years old, the pain and the trauma, the loneliness... it won't change if anyone pretends to be interested in me and in my story now," I turned my back to them, facing the hallway that brings us to the Queen's castle. "Let's not talk about me, it makes you uncomfortable. I'll avoid it from now on. My life isn't important, so let's focus on the trails, alright?" I didn't wait for their answer. "Come, Princes, the Queen must be waiting for us!"
