" Hey, Hari! Are you done ? Let's go drinking."
A man came walking to Hari's desk while he took off his coat. He was speaking in Korean.
Hari's eyes were still glued to his screen.
Hari : " Hae-Sung? Nah, not coming. "
Hae-Sung: " Ha? Don't be such a party- pooper, Man! "
He grumbled.
" Shut up! I'm going on a blind date. Why don't you go to your wifey?
Aren't you guys still in Honey-moon phase? "
" If you're that jealous, why don't you get married too? "
" Yeah, to you, right?"
" Sorry to break your heart. I don't even swing that way."
Hari rested his cheeks on his palm and narrowed his eyes in a seductive way.
" So, if I were a girl, would you have an affair with me? "
Hae-Sung had chills down his spine.
He hugged himself.
"I hate it when you try to seduce me with that face of yours."
He looked at Hari like a dynamite bomb.
" Hmm... 'try to?', huh? I guess I failed.
The girls I meet on my blind dates usually fall for it. "
Hae-Sung had a smug look.
"Hahaha... well tried but unlike the girls you meet on blind dates who are looking for casual partners, I am devoted to my wife."
" Yeah, yeah... she's basically your religion now."
Hae-Sung's eyes lit up.
" That's right! Unfortunately, my wife's way out of your league. She's a goddess. You can't even compare."
Hari curled up his lips and mumbled.
" No offence to Noona ( older sister) but you're just looking at it with rose-tinted glasses."
Hae-Sung didn't hear that and continued patting his back.
" Don't worry. I bet you'd be one heck of a looker as a woman too, not as much as my wife though..."
Hari chuckled.
" What's with that awkward way of cheering up? I really wonder about that. "
Hae-Sung inspected the profile that was working diligently.
Hae-Sung: ' I totally meant that though. '
Jet black hair, short and straight parted, neatly to one side.
A well defined jawline and an enchanting smile.
He had a robust and strapping body which was made obvious by his white shirt and black pants defining his body lines.
Hae-Sung: ' Well, if this wasn't enough he also had a charismatic persona.
However, those eyes... those navy blue eyes, so mysteriously alluring.
Strange yet captivating, fearsome yet kind and pellucid yet enigmatic.
If I were a poet, his eyes would've been my muse.'
Hari : " Hae-Sung Sunbae (senior/korean) ..."
Hae-Sung: " Hmm?"
' I wonder what he was thinking staring into space.'
Hari: " Do you really think I'd look good?
I mean my abs are my charm point.
What do you think of girls with abs?"
Hari asked with a glint in his eyes as if he were asking about the origin of life.
Hae-Sung's jaw dropped.
" You saying that makes me look like an idiot
Dummy, when you act like that It's hard to believe you're an Ex-Yankee."
Hari slowly turned his head and glared right into his eyes silently.
The office floor was noisy but Hae-Sung felt it was too quiet like inside a void only with Hari.
He had shivers all over his body.
He swallowed constantly.
Hari's lips moved and the words he spoke filled the Void.
" How many times do I need to 'kindly remind' you not to speak of that? "
Hae-Sung averted his eyes as he couldn't bear looking into his eyes.
Hae-Sung: ' That gaze of his scares me more than the fact that he used to be delinquent. '
Hari's gaze could rightfully be called the materialization of the words :
" If you gaze into the Abyss, the Abyss gazes back at you."
Friedrich Nietzsche.
/ Tak Tak /
Hari tapped the stack of papers on the desk and that sound seemed to nullify the void-like sensation.
Hae-Sung could finally breathe.
" If eyes could kill I'd be dead by now."
" You'd be dead long back.
No matter how many times I say it you'd still bring it up."
" I wanna live not for myself but for my wife. "
Hari sighed.
" Then please go live your parakeet couple life and Leave me alone. "
Hae-Sung broadened his chest.
Hae-Sung : " You should be honoured that this Sunbae-nim is willing to sacrifice his heavenly time with his Goddess and drink with you.
I'm only doing it because you're getting transferred overseas. "
Hari : " Not today. I promised this Date a month ago. Ditching a lady isn't gentlemanly."
Hari smirked.
Hae-Sung: " Don't be hated by women too much else you'll live your whole life jealous of me."
Hari shrugged.
" Jealous of an idiot husband who loses all his reasoning when it comes to his wife? Oh, please!"
" All my decisions are perfectly rational though."
Hari narrowed his."
" Didn't you say you were tight on money, yet I saw you going through those gift catálogs..."
Hae-Sung was taken aback.
" Huh? Did you see that? Well, no use hiding it, I guess. My wife was looking at a Diamond necklace and talked about it."
Hari narrowed his eyes.
Hari : " Did she ask you to buy it?"
Hae-Sung : " No she didn't. She was being considerate.
Ain't she an angel? I don't deserve her."
Hari : ' Yeah, you don't.'
Hae-Sung's eyes sparkled and he continued.
" As expected all the diamonds in this world should belong to my wife.
I am sorry for being such an incapable husband."
Hari took the stack of his paper and stood up.
He sighed with a hint of annoyance.
" Geez, you're beyond help."
He mumbled.
" I will hand in this stack of documents... I am finally done for the day."
He said, stretching his arms up.
" I wonder if my date will be sexy this time~~"
Hae-Sung furrowed his brow as he watched over him.
" Man, I am telling you to just get settled and stop frolicking with women."
Hari only turned his upper torso to look at him and smirked deviously.
" Why would I do that? I am not short of dates.
Plus, the girls love exotic merchandise like me."
Hae-Sung curled up his lips.
" Ugh... Fucking Casanova! So much filth... Ah... I need to go home and have my daily dose of purification. "
Hari : " Good night, Sunbae-nim!"
He said with a cheerful smile.
Hae-Sung clicked his tongue.
" Don't it look so happy, you brat? You still owe me drinks."
He said as he left the office waving goodbye.
Hari went as he sighed.
Hari : ' He is such a worry wart. I guess he feels responsible as he is the only one who knows about me being an Ex-delinquent. '
He gave a blonde girl the documents.
" Oh, Hari-Senpai.." (senior/japanese)
She turned and looked at him with her captivating Blue eyes.
He spoke in English.
" Eliana-chan, These are the documents you will need for tomorrow's meeting."
She glanced through them.
" Yes, everything is in here.
Thank you very much!"
Hari : " Working overtime again?
The company is fortunate to have hard-working employees like you. "
She spoke in Japanese this time.
Eliana : " Haha...you flatter me.
But no matter how many times I hear you , I cannot help but be impressed.
How do you manage to speak so many languages, senpai?"
Hari : " Well, let's just say that I got lucky. To be frank, that is my only redeeming quality which helped me get a stable job."
" You're way too humble."
Hari smiled .
"Then I'll leave you to work in peace. Take care. "
" Thank you for your good work! "
Hari went off.
He wore a black cardigan as he left the office. He made a call.
[ Ji-soo Noona] (Hae-Sung's wife)
[ Calling ]
Ji-soo : " Hello, Hari?"
She picked up the call while peeling an apple.
" Noona, I heard you asked for a diamond necklace? "
" Ah... That stupid husband of mine. He's up to no good again..."
She sighed as she put down the apple to reach for another one.
" Apparently, he is busy saving money and looking at gift catalogues to buy a diamond necklace his wife talked about. "
" Ugh... All I said was why are some shiny stones so f****** expensive."
She grumbled stabbing the apples.
' I'm glad at least the wife is in her right mind' He thought.
Ji-soo : " Anyway, thanks as always."
Hari : " Noona?"
He said in a very coy voice.
Ji-soo : " Haha, I know , my lovely dongsaeng (younger brother).
I'll send a lunch box for you. "
Hari : " Thank you, Noona! You're the best! "
He said in a cheerful voice and hung up.
Hari : ' Revenge for bringing up my past. Complete. '
On his way to the restaurant he made the reservation for, he stopped by a convenience store.
A young boy who was in the store's uniform for part-timers called out to him.
"Hyung-nim!" (Elder brother/Korean)
Hari looked at the brunette boy with turquoise eyes sparkling while his Korean didn't seem very natural.
" Seo! Try sticking to one language, will ya?"
"Yea, yea"
He said as he walked to him.
Seo saw him all dressed up.
" Whoa! Are you going somewhere? "
" I have blind date planned out but I stopped by because you said that you have something important to talk about. "
Seo rubbed his eyes and pretended to be teary.
"I am so touched to know that this womanizer brother cares about me more than his new target. "
He clicked his tongue.
" I treat all women with respect and I never force them, okay?!
So, stop that."
" Yes~"
"Spill it now, brat."
He took out an envelope and handed it to him.
" Thank you for taking care of me. I was able to pay my university fees on time."
Hari looked at home with narrowed eyes.
He sighed.
" You seriously called me for this? I have a lady waiting for me and here I am wasting time with a dude."
"I'm being serious, Nii- San. " ( Japanese)
"Stick to one language."
Hari gave him back the envelope and turned back leaving him there.
" Hey!"
Seo screamed.
" Pay me back with some home-made food. Money is so insincere. Tsk…Tsk.."
He said clicking his tongue.
Seo sighed.
"He's so stubborn."
Seo smiled helplessly and went back to work.
Hari looked above at the dark night sky.
' Now, let's meet the lady and have a good dinner. Another peaceful day spent normally.
Yes , I shouldn't be worrying about 'that thing' now.'
He closed his eyes and sighed.
'I hope she'll be happy to spend the night with me as there is no work tomorrow. '
