Chapter 46 - #Justice for An Mei

"Li Yu, why are you still crying? Were you a crying goddess in your past life or something?" Bai Liyue asked helplessly.

Li Yu chuckled, amidst her crying tears.

"Here, wipe your tears," she said, passing her some tissues. "And, tell me everything from the beginning. What's wrong? Why are you crying?"

Li Yi thanked Bai Liyue. She grabbed some of the tissue and began to wipe her tears and nose from the tissue paper. Taking a deep breath, she looked at the glass of water kept on the table, picked it up, and took a small sip. She did not know where to begin. It was all her fault. She should have consulted with her employer before doing anything, but no.

She took matters into her own hands and made it all worse. Now, everyone was targeting Chen Ziyue because of her. Her employer was already having a lot of problems on her plate and she just added a few more on top of it.

Just thinking about the situation brought tears to her eyes. "Miss Chen, " she hesitated, not knowing how to speak about the topic. "I-I... I... I am sorry. I-I... don't know how....." she paused.

From the calmness and confusion on her employer's face, it was quite clear that she was still unaware of the situation online. Li Yu sighed in depression, cursing herself for being so reckless. But, now what's done was done. She couldn't change it nor could she do anything to make it disappear.

"Li Yu, are you having any problem? Are you in need of money? Do you want me to give you a raise?" Bai Liyue asked her gently when she noticed her maid's hesitant expression. She knew about the situation in Li Yu's family, and hence she asked out of concern.

Li Yu shook her head. "No, Miss Chen."

"Then is everything well at home? Is your mother doing okay?"

Li Yi nodded. "Miss Chen, everything is fine at home."

Bai Liyue frowned. "Then why were you crying? Did you do some mistakes? Wait, did you break anything in the kitchen or something? If you did, then it's okay. You don't have to cry about it."

The more gentle Bai Liyue was towards Li Yu, the more it made her feel bad. Her heart was unable to bear the weight of remorse and guilt. Her employee was such a good person and those nasty people, with no eyes and brains, were saying such mean things about her.

"Miss Chen, I committed a grave mistake," she admitted honestly.

"Huh? What mistake?"

"I-I-I.... umm... Miss Chen... I - Miss Chen why don't you take a look at it yourself," Li Yu suggested with a guilty look. Not meeting Bai Liyue's eyes, she handed her phone to Bai Liyue.

Bai Liyue frowned. She held the phone and her eyes began to skim through its content. On the screen, there was a Weibo page opened, And to be exact, it was her Weibo page, and below in the comments, all the netizens were calling her cruel and arrogant. They were saying all kinds of dirty and mean things about her. They were condemning her actions for beating and venting her anger on her poor servant.

Bai Liyue remained stunned for two minutes.

Huh? What the hell was this?

Beating and mistreating her servant?! When did she do that?

A popularity act to make a comeback? Were the netizens taking the wrong kind of medicine?

Bai Liyue was puzzled. She blinked her eyes rapidly and read through all of the contents. With each passing second, the expression on her face turned from confusion to realization to grave to weird, and then she finally laughed out loud. "Do people really believe in this kind of nonsense?" she muttered to herself, with an amused look.

Apparently, yesterday, when she fired An Mei from the job, that crazy maid decided to take revenge just like she warned her before leaving. She went to Weibo and quickly posted a video where she was defaming her and spouting all bad things against her.

She made a fake story where she was slapped and beaten by her. Acting all innocent, An Mei cried on video and expressed vividly how she was mistreating her servants and taking her anger out on them.

On top of it, An Mei also lied that when she fired her from the job, she didn't pay a single cent. To make her false story more believable, she even faked visible fingerprints on her cheeks.

When the netizens heard her story, they were immediately enraged. They already have her because of the scandal and this video just gave them another reason to bash her, speak all kinds of things about her, and call her dirty names.

A hashtag called '#Justice for An Mei' was getting popular, with many people coming forward and supporting An Mei. Some people even boldly threatened her that if she didn't apologize or compensate An Mei publically then she would face terrible consequences.

The problem turned worse when Li Yu stepped into this matter. Seeing all the online hate against her, Li Yu quickly commented below An Mei's video. She disclosed her identity as her maid and clarified that An Mei was a crazy person and she was lying to everyone.

She narrated the entire incident on Weibo. However, no one believed her. They trusted An Mei's fake tears over Li Yu's honest words. Some even thought that the entire incident was fake or staged to whitewash her reputation.

Bai Liyue sighed at the online drama.

Finally, she put the phone down and looked at Li Yu. "You were crying for this nonsense?" she asked.

Li Yu nodded, with a dumbfounded look. Why wasn't Miss Chen worried or angry? Instead, she was smiling even after seeing the contents of the matter. What was going on?

"Miss Chen, are you not angry? Aren't you worried?"

"Have I done anything wrong?"

Li Yu shook her head.

"Then do I have anything to hide?"

"No."

"Then why should I be worried?"

Li Yu pressed her lips together. "But the people online..... they are saying mean stuff about you which is not true. Moreover, because of my post, everything got worse."

"It's all my fault. I should have done things without your permission," she apologized, with a look of self-blame in her eyes. "Miss Chen, I am sorry."
