It's a busy shift today.
A huge accident happened in the highway, many drivers and passengers got injured pretty badly.
The ER nurses and doctors haven't had the chance to rest for the past six hours.
One of these doctors is Chase Meredith, a twenty-seven-year-old man, light brown thick hair that's covered with a blue surgical hat.
5'11, broad shoulders, long legs, dressed in his white coat and black pants underneath.
Chase wanted to become a doctor since he was just a very little kid.
He has always been so ambitious when it comes to this field as well as active and curious to learn new things about it every day and in every chance he gets.
That's why he is helping in the ER today, even though he isn't an ER doctor.
Originally Chase is a neurologist, the reason why he chose to be a specialist in brains is because he has always found human brains super mesmerizing and complicated in a good way (In his opinion).
[A neurologist is a medical doctor who diagnoses, treats and manages disorders of the brain and nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves).
A neurologist knows the anatomy, function and conditions that affect the nerves and nervous system. The nervous system is the body's command center.]
And he is still studying to become a neurosurgeon.
A satisfied sigh came out of Chase's mouth when he finished reattaching one of the patients' fingers back to his hand.
He walked out of the emergency rooms, allowing the nurses to make sure the patient is comfortable in his room.
" Chase, I heard the ER was busy today." As Chase walked inside the private cafeteria to grab a cup of coffee, he met one of his co-workers who is also his friend.
His name is Noah Hansley.
He is in the same age as Chase and is a Osteopath.
[An orthopedic doctor specializes in diagnosing and treating problems with the bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments. They may also be called an orthopedist.]
An exhausted groan left Chase's mouth as he pulled a chair next to his friend, taking a sip of his hot bitter coffee " There was a big accident in the highway."
Noah only hummed as he carried on looking into his tablet, he knows how exhausting hospital shifts in the ER can be, that's why he is sure that his friend doesn't need to waste what's left of his energy on talking about useless topics.
" Have they announced who got chosen for the SSL?" While Noah was busy working on his tablet, Chase suddenly asked, interrupting his work.
Every single doctor in this hospital applied to be chosen by the SSL aka Swift Science Laboratory.
One of the biggest Laboratories in California, joining it has always been a dream of many doctors.
Chase doesn't just dream to join it, he has been so desperate to join the SSL since he heard cool stories about this laboratory from his late dad when he was a kid.
He applied twice before but was not chosen.
Doctors can apply for the SSL every year for three years, then stop for nine whole years and open opportunities again for three other years then carry on the same pattern.
Every doctor who had the chance to go to the SSL before, stayed there for their entire life and only comes out when they die… As ashes.
Noah shook his head " Not yet."
Not a single day, Chase has stopped thinking of the SSL in the past three years.
This year is his last chance, if he doesn't get chosen, he will have to wait almost another decade.
Later on, the rest of Noah and Chase's friends joined them after they finally finished their shifts.
In the end of the day, Chase went back home, he was barely able to do his night routine before quickly falling asleep.
What he did not know is that in the next morning, he will get the call that he has been waiting for.
It's seven in the morning, Chase's phone started ringing, he instantly grabbed it from the nightstand and picked up the call when he saw the caller was one of his friends Mia Watson.
Mia Watson is also in the same age as him and Noah, she is a dermatologist
(A dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in conditions that affect the skin, hair, and nails. Whether it's rashes, wrinkles, psoriasis, or melanoma, no one understands the skin, hair, and nails better than a board-certified dermatologist.)
" Chase, the list is published."
