Anabel found out the hard way that the lamia didn't care about anyone but herself. She exploits people and toys with them, and if they refuse her, she manipulates them with her ants or their greatest weaknesses.
"You don't know anything," the lamia spat. "As a matter of fact, you know nothing about everything! This place, this world, Oliver, my family...you know nothing about any of it. You are but a naive child; you haven't lived long enough to know true suffering. You are incapable of understanding the sacrifices I've made as a mother; the lengths I have to go through to simply survive!"
"How dare you?!" the lamia raged. "What gives you the right to accuse me of being selfish when all you've done is focus on how you can get Oliver wrapped around your finger?!"
