A mature woman with her auburn hair combed and styled in pigtails under her broad straw hat looked up from her gardening when she heard a vehicle approaching. She furrowed her brows seeing the familiar blue van and slowly rose to her feet.
"Dave?" she muttered before taking brisk strides toward the van.
The woman looked in the back of the van first and all the fruits and vegetables she helped him pack only two hours ago were still there. A crease formed between her furrowed brows as she mumbled, "Everything's still here."
She marched over to the beer-bellied man climbing out of the van. "What happened? Why are you back already with everything still in the van?"
He walked right past her without saying anything or even acknowledging her presence which further confused the freckle-faced woman. 'What is wrong with him?' She scampered behind him to the other side of the van. "Didn't you go to the market? How are you back already with all the produce?"
