Anabel recalled how Adeline boasted about her power and her superiority over all vampires...even the devil so she couldn't possibly be scared, right?
But what if...?
"Elias can't see us either, right?" Anabel anxiously questioned. From the way Elias was staring at Adeline, so intently and in the eyes, she was beginning to have doubts.
Adeline tightly gripped the material of her police uniform upon hearing Anabel's question. She honestly wasn't sure; Elias' gaze was too intense and unwavering, she felt as if he was staring deep into her soul.
She wanted to respond to Anabel, but she was too afraid to speak; too afraid to look away from Elias' emotionless eyes. 'He can't see me,' Adeline tried convincing herself after taking a deep breath, but she was horribly mistaken.
This time...the devil could see through her ruse.
"I can see you," Elias told her in a monotone and a scream left her lips when she was suddenly pinned to the wall by her throat.
