"That's not my husband," Katherine repeated with a sniffle, tightening her hold on the hot cup of coffee between her hands.
"You're in denial," Chief Lockwood started. Seeing the heavy bags below her dark-circled, red eyes, he asked her, "Have you slept at all since you had that nightmare?"
"I'm not in denial and what happened to my husband was not a nightmare!" Tears streamed down the pale skin of her tear-stained cheeks as she choked out, "I saw with my own eyes what those demons did to him, he forced me to watch as he broke my George!"
Chief Lockwood was not at all convinced by her story, George's body had already been found and all the evidence pointed to a car accident and not the supernatural torturing her husband to death, but he really did feel sorry for her.
