Officer James didn't bother arguing with her, but he was still hesitant after properly taking in her appearance in the light.
Rose was a lot thinner, unhealthily skinny, and her bone structures stood out a lot more. With her skin so pale that it looked translucent, she resembled a corpse that's been on ice for days.
Her broken feet that she lugged along as if they were excess baggage had long lost their human appearance. What once was beautiful, long, slender, and worshipped by men was now bluishly purple in color, void of blood, and ornamented by thorns, dried leaves, and all sorts of debris.
"I don't have all day," she complained with a frown. "Give it to me before the batteries go out."
There was still much hesitation on Officer James' end but he handed her the flashlight regardless of his concerns for her health.
"Stay close, okay?"
"I'm not a child."
