Around a large, rectangular, mahogany table, sat grim-faced government officials, the police chief, and the mayor. Their eyes and ears focused on the cellular device at the table's center, emitting screams, gunshots, and voices too muffled to hear clearly.
"Ahhh!"
"Bam! Bam! Bam!"
This recording played on loop until it was interrupted by one of the assistants of the neatly dressed woman seated at one end.
"What does any of this have to do with my daughter?"
Chief Lockwood, who was seated at the opposite end was the first to speak following her question. "Madam mayor, your daughter was among the few that entered the dark woods."
Wrinkles formed on the mature woman's forehead as she furrowed her brows. "My daughter?" she questioned in disbelief. "That's preposterous!"
"The phone call was made using her phone...we checked multiple times."
