Officer James fired the first shot that barely grazed Ashley's pale cheek. He tried again but he couldn't stop his hand from shaking to aim properly.
With a calm and focused expression on his sweaty face, he kept firing while stepping back regardless of his bullets only either grazing or missing his slow-moving target.
Ashley continued to take slow, predatory steps forward and only stopped when a bullet pierced her chest. She stuck her fingers in the bloody, messy wound and didn't even flinch as she pulled it from her chest.
Throwing the blood-stained metal to the side, she continued forward once more with those slow steps as if she was observing him first, waiting to see when he would show a hint of weakness and finally succumb to the horror of his inevitable fate and cower in fear.
