Amaira ran out of her house to meet the police officers, but she was beyond disappointed and a bit embarrassed when she saw that there was only one officer. There were no helicopters, special agents, or mysterious-looking guys wearing dark shades, it was nothing like the scene she imagined happening!
A crowd formed and many took out their phones to video and take pictures. Amaira was usually annoyed by this, but this time she didn't mind, she was finally going to expose the Stone family for who they really were: monsters!
"What is it this time?" one person questioned.
"Amaira saw a vampire in action," another person responded and snickers followed.
Unable to take the mockery any longer, she stomped over to the police officer who has been taking his time in his car. She knocked on the window of his car to garner his attention before saying, "Where are the others? You do know that you're dealing with a blood-sucking monster right?"
The officer continued to skip through the papers in his hands and only stopped to show her the chain with a cross on it that was around his neck, "Don't worry, I'm prepared."
Amaira glared at him, "You think this is a joke don't you?"
The officer sighed and finally got out of his car, "This is your 15th call to us since the month started and it's always about the Stone family. We check their house every time and never find anything so don't blame me for not taking you seriously."
"Do you mind if I come along this time?" Amaira questioned and the officer shrugged before telling her to do whatever she wants.
He knocked against the mahogany double doors of the Stone family residence and an extremely beautiful and mature-looking woman answered the door. She was Mrs. Anabel Stone, a woman of unparalleled beauty with her blood-red hair and pitch black irises. A mother of eight, but looked young enough to be a mother of none.
Her warm and sweet smile could even melt the heart of the most cold-hearted man in the universe, but Amaira knew better than to be fooled. The woman before her was like the world, she was only beautiful when the sun is shining.
The officer, however, was completely smitten by her as he greeted her with a bright and slightly creepy-looking smile. "So sorry to be bothering you on this beautiful day, Mrs. Stone, but we've received a report that a vampire was seen in your home."
The smile didn't leave Mrs. Stone's face as she said, "A vampire? How interesting, I don't think I've ever encountered one before." She stepped aside, "Do let me know if you find it, yes?"
Amaira and the officer stood at the spot where she saw the handsome man devouring the woman. The officer looked around, "I don't see any bloodstains."
'How could he clean up his mess so fast?' Amaira thought to herself after not even finding a trickle of blood on the white fur carpet. 'This is not possible!'
"I knew this would be a waste of time," the officer muttered under his breath, but Amaira heard him.
"We're going to Elias' room then you're going to do a thorough check of the house," she told him.
"I don't take orders from little girls."
Amaira dropped a hundred-dollar bill in his hand, "You do now."
"Yes ma'am!" the officer replied strongly and even saluted before marching up the stairs to Elias' room.
The officer rose his fist to knock on the closed door, but Amaira had other plans in mind. She didn't want to give Elias any time to magically make any evidence disappear.
When she opened the door and saw Elias on the woman she saw getting devoured earlier, she immediately sprung into action. "Get off her!" Amaira yelled and pushed him off the almost fully naked woman.
The woman squealed in response and quickly covered herself with the sheets. Amaira's eyes widened when she saw that there was no wound on the woman's neck and no blood on her dress that was crumpled on the floor.
'What the hell?' she thought.
"So sorry to barge in like this Mr. Stone," the officer apologized. "We'll be leaving now."
Elias looked at Amaira who was still frozen where she stood, "What did you see this time huh?"
Amaira clenched her fists by her side before storming over to him and draping his collar. "How'd you do it?"
"Do what?" Elias innocently questioned and it infuriated Amaira even more.
The officer pulled her off him, "Don't hassle an innocent man Amaira, you can get arrested for causing trouble."
"Let go of me!" Amaira angrily told the officer before thrashing her arms until she was out of his grasp. She pointed threateningly at Elias, "I don't know how you're doing any of this, but I'm gonna figure it out and when I do, I'm gonna drive a wooden stake through your heart myself."
The officer sighed as he massaged his bushy brows, "I'm standing right here you know, did you seriously just threaten him in front of me?"
Amaira ignored him and stormed out of Elias' room going down the stairs where she bumped into Mrs. Stone again, but this time, she was holding baby Kenneth.
"Did you find the vampire, Amaira?" she questioned looking genuinely concerned.
Amaira forced a smile to her lips, but her distaste for each member of the Stone family was still evident on her face as she said, "You and your family should consider going into acting, you're all pretty damn good at it."
She stepped threateningly close to Mrs. Stone, "But the curtains will close soon enough." The smile fell from her face, "I'll make sure of it."
The smile never left Mrs. Stone's lips as she opened her front door, "Have a nice day, Amaira. Send regards to your mother for me."
Amaira clenched her fists, she was so angry she could scream, but so much attention was already on her. She was ridiculed yet again by the people she loathes the most.
"Amaira Hendrix, get in the house right this moment!" her mother yelled from where she stood beside a snickering Jenna.
"Great," Amaira muttered under her breath before making her dreadful way back inside her house to face the worst punishment a person could ever go through...a lecture from her mother.
