Finding out about the eviction notice was the last thing Laney needed. She was already exhausted, confused by all the acting, and devastated over bonding with her daughter only to have to leave her later. This was too much!
Why did Terrence have to be so useless?! He didn't think about his daughters at all. How could he be stupid enough to lose a rent-controlled apartment that he had lived in Laney's whole life?
"I could kill him!" she ranted once she got back after taking Lissy home and promising once again that she would take care of things.
"What do you want me to do?" Richard asked calmly. "Because I've thought of several solutions but all would reveal that you married into money and I assumed you wanted to avoid that."
"I do. Ugh, why does he have to be like this?!"
"I'm sorry you have to deal with him."
So was she. The only reason she tolerated him at all was because he was still technically Lissy's legal guardian.
