Some month in 2000…

The world was having a normal day, as usual, nothing unusual happened.

But one day, a great portal was opened in the middle of the ocean and something came out of it.

A small floating island, but on top was a giant black stone tablet a thousand meters high and ten meters long.

The most interesting thing was that there was no information on the stone tablet.

The thing was just a perfectly smooth tablet without any kind of deformity.

When the phenomenon happened, the whole world went into a frenzy because they didn't know what this thing was.

A portal being opened was an unbelievable thing, not even scientists could find out what this portal was.

The whole world gathered the greatest research centers to study the stone tablet, but nothing could be discovered.

A month after the event, another shocking thing happened.

More portals began to appear all over the world, but what came out were not stone tablets, but hideous and dangerous creatures.

The entire world suffered heavy casualties and around fifty percent of the world's population was killed by these creatures.

Humans had to abandon their homes to survive.

Many wars took place, but it was useless because conventional weapons didn't damage these creatures. Only more sophisticated weapons like missiles, warheads, or similars cause great destruction.

The areas affected by the nuclear warheads could never be recovered by humans because of the radiation, only the creatures live in these places.

Thus, after the wars, many territories that were occupied by humans were taken over by the creatures.

The following month, another surprising thing happened.

Strange letters began to appear on the sign.

This was a surprising event because it happened a month after the apparition. At the same time, another shocking thing was happening around the world.

Children born on January 1, 2000, onwards began to awaken special powers like magic, or some other kind of superpower.

The world went into shock once again.

Scientists discovered that the letters that appeared on the stone tablet were the names of awakened powers.

Whenever a newly awakened power that has never been awakened before appears, the name is marked on the tablet.

To rank how powerful the awakened skills were, the tablet had a division line, the higher the skill name appears, the rarer and more powerful the skill.

Thus, humans classified abilities as F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, and UNKNOWN.

The higher the rarity, the lower the number of skills to be awakened.

One of the examples was the rank F, this rank was the one that had the greatest variety of skills considered useless like Throwing Object, Public Speaking, and other random things that anyone can learn.

The skill with the Unknown rank was only one because there was a mark on the top of the tablet, but no one knew what skill it was because it was never awakened.

Humans finally had a glimmer of hope when the powers were awakened. They began to train these young people to be warriors and help in the recovery of domains lost to the creatures.

However, it would not be easy to do so.

Areas with high-level creatures were the most dangerous and were never recovered. Low-level ones had the best chance of returning to the human domain, but a major incursion was made.

The result was always many deaths.

When the first creature was killed, the person who did this reported leveling up and getting stronger before the system window popped up.

Only those who gain the first level have access to this information.

It brought more hope because it became something like in games. Defeat creatures to level up and get stronger.

New skills were also learned along the way.

Awakened people can create their own skill or magic by using creativity, but the skill was not as powerful as the awakened skill that was tied directly to the user.

Thirty years after the appearance of the stone tablet, humanity managed to get back to its development, but it was still slow and gradual because the creatures still dominated many important areas.

For some reason, after ten years of the change, people started awakening the skill when they turned five. It was no longer after birth as before.

So the scientists were able to find a better way to find out what power was awakened in a ceremony they call the Awakening Ceremony.

It wasn't just people who changed, but the world as well.

Many kinds of plants, minerals, and other new things appeared, but they were magical. Items with magical effects appeared after the tablet started the new dangerous world.

New professions have emerged over the years such as alchemists, those who use herbs to make potions, blacksmiths to forge weapons and armor, healers, and many other types of professions that only existed in RPG games.

Over the years, countries have created rules for dealing with awakened beings.

This was to prevent many problems from happening because some evil people can use skills to harm others.

Even after so long, the Unknown rank skill still hasn't emerged.

Which made the whole world curious about what this skill was.

But they wouldn't stay that way for long because someone would awaken that skill.
