Chereads / Dual Elite: Connected souls / Chapter 2 - Kingdom in the distance

Chapter 2 - Kingdom in the distance

"Is this some kind of game world?"

"It seems so", Liam answered rather skeptical about the whole thing.

Checking further they learnt that they could check their class, stats and magic skills.

[Combat class

A class of people made for combat. They are people apt at learning fighting skills and gaining fight experience. Usually there physical abilities are greater than most]

"It seems like I am really good at fighting, what about you?"

[Familiar (Morph)

This class of people have the ability to change their bodies at will. They can either take the form of a monster, weapon or item. Their form is usually determined by the shape of their partner's soul. Usually they have incredible amounts of Mana at their disposal]

"Mine doesn't really make any sense", Adira said rubbing her head.

"Don't worry about it, I can see what you are seeing", Liam succeeded in freaking Adira out, however on a closer observation she realized she could do the same.

[Leader: Liam Stone

Partner: Adira Evans]

"Hey, who made you leader?", Adira pouted.

Liam was surprised the moment he saw this too. It seemed like this system had selected a leader for the two based on their earlier reactions to this new world.

"So what now, almighty leader?", Adira mocked his current position.

"I saw a settlement resembling a town not too far away. If we walk there I am sure we can make it within about three hours", Liam pointed out the settlements location.

"That's actually not a bad idea. Let's get going then."

The two walked the grass land for about an hour plus before getting a proper view of the place. However things were not as they had originally expected. The settlement Liam once thought to be town turned out to be a massive kingdom instead.

"Wow, it's actually a kingdom. I didn't see that coming", Adira admitted.

'Is it the medieval times in this world. Hmm, if that is the case it seems using a phone would be out of the question', Liam thought to himself.

Adira seemed to notice his absence mindedness rather easily, it was as if she could feel what he felt in a way.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I am fine. Let's keep on moving", Liam kept his earlier thoughts to himself.

After an hour and few minutes of walking, the two could be seen gradually approaching the kingdom gates. Liam was walking in a rather fast pace even with Adira on his back. At some point she was unable to walk any further so Liam decided to carry her. He believed this was either due to her having a low stamina or not just exercising her body at all.

Now that they could see the wall of this kingdom, they realized that was way bigger than any skyscraper they had seen in their own world. Adira got off Liam's back before walking up to the two soldiers in armor that stood in front the gate.

"Identify yourself", the soldier on the left demanded.

"I am Liam Stone and the girl over there is Adira Evans."

"What is the purpose of your arrival?", the soldier on the right asked immediately after.

"We are actually lost and are looking for directions in order to go back home", Liam looked to the sky noticing that it was getting dark. "We would also appreciate it if we could stay somewhere for the night."

The two soldiers looked at each other before nodding. The soldier on the right began to move while they followed from behind. On passing the gate, the amazing scenery of this large kingdom caused Adira to smile widely for no apparent reason.

One could easily tell that the buildings were built by very intelligent people. In Liam's opinion this was the best a building could look in such medieval times. Blusish green plants could be seen in different parts of the place, increasing it's beauty of the environment significantly. Looking upward, he began to feel to longing to see the sunset of this world. Upon looking closer, Liam realized that the kingdom was cover with some kind of invisible dome. He could see this simply because there were abnormal ripples over head if one looked closer.

After walking for about five minutes, Liam had noticed something very strange. It was not night time yet, however no one could be seen outside. The highest thing he had seen of human presence was people peaking through the window.

"Uhhh, are we there yet?", Liam asked the solider kinda concerned.

"We are almost there."

Adira noticing his rather strange look wondered what was on his mind, however that was swiftly answered by Liam himself.

"Adira", Liam voice was low but audible enough for her to hear.

"What is it?"

"I think something is wrong."

"Why would you say that all of a sudden?", Adira asked thinking he was just paranoid.

"Just think about it, we haven't seen anyone outside since we came in, even when it isn't night time."

The soldier in front of them suddenly came to a stop alerting the two of them.

"We are here", the soldier pointed to a house in front of them that looked rather new.

'Was I wrong? Was I just making things up? So he was actually just taking us to one of the best houses in the kingdom.'

Looking at the house, Liam nodded before proceeding to walk to the interiors of the house.

Thwack! Thud!

Noticing this strange sounds, Liam quickly turned around only to see Adira laying on the floor unconscious.

"Adi...!", Liam was quickly interrupted by a well placed fist to his gut.

His body responded by kneeling to the ground with his mouth wide open. Tears came out from his eyes as well as saliva from mouth, all because of pain he was feeling. Liam was still recovering when he decided to go on an offensive, however that was quickly halted from his mind when he noticed a few soldiers come out from the corner of the house.

[Enemy detected]

[Status of enemy will now be displayed]

All of these soldiers were in at least level 20, with a soldier in different armor in level 40. There was no way he was winning this fight. At that moment one of the soldiers came forward knocking him out.
