"Will you guys stop it already? She can hear everything you are saying for heaven's sake," Jocelyn berated sharply, causing Audrey to swallow back the rest of her sentence.
"I know both of you grew up in prestigious households but you don't have to mock her while she is here…"
"And whoever said we were mocking her?" Joanna retorted, stepping forward from where she stood.
"Yes, you were right to say that my father is wealthy but I didn't grow up pampered like other kids born in similar households like mine. You might not know this, but just until a few months ago I wore clothes worse than hers. Do you think someone like me would mock her?" Joanna revealed some truth about her past in front of the stranger just to clear up the misunderstanding.
"My friend and I merely voiced out what we observed. We apologize if you felt disrespected in any way. It wasn't our intention," Joanna was humble enough to apologize even though she didn't insult Maya in any way.
