Chapter 12 - Is What She Thought

The last thing Adriana remembered was being saved by Astell Skydane.

Then the rest were all blurred out.

The sudden attack yesterday ruined her day. Everything was going according to plan. She wanted to reach home without any trouble.

If Adriana did not call Raven using Faris. Others might have seen Adriana and her messy dress.

A wave of uneasiness flowed in her stomach because of a few things. The first was about Issac because, for sure, he would suspect her for keeping Leena Bryfiel safe.

Adriana shut one of her eyes as the sunlight penetrated through the window. The sun looks brighter than usual. Adriana had an ominous feeling something was about to happen.

Adriana looked at the white bedsheets, stained with dry blood. She looked at the dress she had worn the other day.

Great, a beautiful dress stained in blood. Unfortunately, she'll need to throw this dress away.

Adriana drank water and walked out of her bed. She starched her arms in the air. Then the door opened and entered Joana, who immediately lowered her head.

"I apologize for not knocking. I thought the lady was still asleep."

"You don't need to worry about that," dismissed Adriana.

Adriana was feeling a bit different from the other days. The fact Leena Bryfiel was safe made her assured that her future was secure.

That is what she thought not until Raven brought her news.

Raven rushed into Adriana's room, not bothering to excuse himself. He then orders Joana to get out of the room.

"Sister, you have to hear this."

"What is?" Adriana furrowed her brow.

"Issac, he brought a Skydane to the underground prison," answered Raven, making Adriana drop the glass cup she grabbed earlier.

The glass shattered into pieces, and Raven immediately moved Adriana away. He saw his sister in shock, which made him confused.

"Skydane? Don't tell me it's him."

"I'm sad to say it is him, Astell Skydane."

Adriana massaged her temples and jinxed herself. The question was how. How did Issac manage to kidnap Astell Skydane?

Everything was a mess which made Adriana slam her desk. Her plans failed. Everything just failed because of Issac.

Adriana underestimated Issac once more. That man would never give up, not until he got something he wanted. For now, Adriana calmed herself.

A new plan. Adriana needed a new plan.

From her past life, Adriana remembered what Issac did to Leena. And it was horrible. All the more if it was Astell. He might not come out with scars only. But maybe without a hand or foot.

At the same time, he might become one of the toys of the two wives. Which Adriana would not allow.

This left her no choice but to fight for it. Which is going to be troublesome. As Ebony would not allow this to pass just like that.

Also, another troubling person was Issac. For sure, he wants to play with him but around this time. Issac would be sent to the mountains to suppress the barbarians.

"Raven, do you know which prison he was brought to?" asked Adriana as she grabbed a new set of clothes and went into the bathroom to get changed.

"Yes, I do. If I tell you, what will you do?" Asked Raven, who did not understand why Adriana was interested in Astell.

"Of course, play with him. As you know, these days without Margaret and Rain. It's going to be quiet," lied Adriana, knowing that this was the only way to convince Raven.

"I understand, and you wouldn't want Madam Ebony to have full control of that Skydane," nodded Raven. "He's in the underground prison."

"What about Issac? Has he departed?" Adriana walked out of the bathroom wearing a white plain dress.

"He doesn't seem to be at home. He did leave a note saying something like your new toy to play around with. And the other, I didn't read it since it was sealed."

Adriana froze her hands in the middle of removing the necklace. A playmate is what he called.

This meant that Issac knew what she had done the other night. But it was alright since he wouldn't be here to watch her.

When the paper landed on her hand, the seal unlocked itself.

Adriana ripped the paper into pieces and laughed out loud. She brushed her hair and then threw the shredded paper into the bin.

"W-what did he tell you?" stuttered Raven.

"He gave me the boy, and the rest is nothing else but pure rubbish."

Which translated to, "So he saw me and thought that I needed a new and better playmate. Also, don't miss me too much. I'll be back to play with you soon."

The original intention of Issac abducting Astell was a present for Adriana.

Adriana never was interested in playing with people. She thinks it was a waste of time. And who would do the work if they were gone?

There were only three people in this world who would use humans as presents. One was Vayne Belladonna, the other was Issac Belladonna and last Ebony Belladonna.

"Are you going to visit the Skydane?" Raven asked Adriana, hoping she wouldn't go.

"Yes, I became his master. And it's rude to send back a present from the loving brother," emphasized Adriana.

"Can I play with him?" His eyes sparkled, but Adriana glared at him.

"No," denied Adriana, stern and firm.

Raven nodded and told himself not to cross the line anymore. But it did bother him why Adriana had accepted the gift just like that.

"Raven, already know, right?" Adriana turned her back once Joana was done fixing her hair.

"I apologize. You taught me that people are not meant to be played around with. But the Belladonna is an exemption."

Despite treating Raven strictly, he knew it was the best for him.

"I need you to escort me to the underground prison. Call every single guard to stay out, and you too," ordered Adriana.

"A-also me? I can't stay inside with you and that Skydane?" protested Raven worried that Astell might hurt Adriana.

"Raven, he won't be able to hurt him."

"But still. You will never know," argued Raven, which immediately shut his mouth, seeing Adriana looking at him coldly. "I apologize."

There was a reason for every action Adriana made. But this time, she cannot allow Raven to know her plans. Because if she did tell him. His life would be put in danger.

Was it funny to say that Raven was her weakness? If anyone dared to hurt Raven. Adriana would never let them live. Even if it was her own lover.

Adriana's eyes softened seeing Raven frown. She sighed and pulled his cheek.

"Raven, I'm doing this for you. I know you are powerful but just for now. Don't get involved with him," gently warned Adriana. "You're still young. I don't want you to be part of something you shouldn't be."

Raven looked at Adriana while biting his lip. He knew it was for his sake that Adriana kept him away from others. And Raven felt grateful, but at the same time, he felt useless, unable to help anyone.

This made him decide that he could make choices once he was fully an adult. He will protect Adriana. Even if it meant his own life. That is for now. Raven accepted every order of Adriana.

"I understand. I know it's for my good," smiled Raven.

"Thank you, Raven."
