Chapter 11 - Soul of a Particular Wolf

Standing up and dusting off her body, she thought yet again.

'What the hell is this place?'

The ground was pure black, as such was the sky.

Even after falling from that height, not even a scratch was on the ground.

The sky was empty, no sun, no moon, no stars.

The only thing that differentiated the distant land from the sky was a pale white light that covered the ground almost like a faint mist.

The only thing she could see in this void-like space, besides the dark ground and sky, were figures.

Most were grey while some were pale white and others dark and black.

Nonetheless, they all seemed violent as they fought and battled. She could see how as the figures 'died' they would turn to nothing but particles of light the same colour as what they were.

'So am I in hell NOW?'

She didn't have a lot of time to figure this place out as she heard a familiar growl.

Slowly turning her head around, she saw a dark grey wolf.

Her eyes slightly widened.

'It's... So it's stuck in this flower too?'

She turned towards the wolf while taking a few cautionary steps back.

'I- I did have the ability to go through things before entering the flower. I... should be fine?'

As she stumbled slightly because of a long crack that travelled through the ground, the wolf made its move.

She blocked her face and neck with her hands the same way a boxer would.

The wolf appeared right in front of her and bit into her hands.

Although no blood flowed or flesh tore, the pain she felt was extraordinary.

'AH!'

The wolf didn't let go after his initial attack. It thrashed around, ripping deeper into her arms.

'YOU LITTLE SHIT!'

She fell back onto her back as the wolf stood above her, ripping into her arms.

The grip slowly tightened.

'UGH! Not today motherfucker!'

She grabbed the sides of the wolf's jaw while her arms were still stuck between its teeth.

She placed her legs around the wolf's neck and violently turned the arms that the wolf was gnawing on sideways.

*Crack.

The wolf's neck was torn and snapped.

As it fell on the ground, lifeless, she lay there while desperately clutching her hands that hurt like the dickens.

The wolf disappeared soon after.

'Shit... A ghost can't phase through a ghost huh...'

So she thought, providing herself with a proper reason why the wolf could attack her. And although she did not notice, a part of that, now dead, wolf entered her body.

Sigh.

'Ah~ What the... hell man. This isn't normal.'

Lightly thinking about how the figures or spirits or souls or whatever they were that were in had bones and body structures, she felt like if any other monster wolf monster in here attacked her, she could kill it.

'So things here have bones... Snapping their necks would be a good strategy then I guess.'

After a minute of lying on the ground and clutching her aching arms, she heard something running and dragging.

She sighed out loud and stood up.

She was exhausted from just battling that one wolf. How would she survive the next encounter?

Looking in the direction of the noise, she saw a rather large ape running towards her. It had a long and thick tale with the face and arms of a gorilla.

'That's going to be tough.'

...

In the charging ape's mind, it found itself lucky.

While staying here was dangerous, after killing some or other animal, it would grow stronger no matter the strength of the opponent.

As it had been hunting, it was suddenly chased off by a large and intimidating man.

Since then it had been on the run.

The animals and monsters around here were too powerful for it.

Just a moment ago, it was chased off from its prey yet again by a large wolf.

Now, however, he had seen some perfect prey.

A skinny looking female that was already damaged.

Idiotic creature. It thought as it started charging at the woman that was lying down on the ground seemingly out of breath.

As it approached, the woman stood up and stared at him in the eyes.

Yes, she knows that death is coming and is embracing it! The ape thought as he charged in faster.

Just as he reached within range, he jumped and was about to slam his heavy fist into the woman.

Yet before he could land his attack on her, before he could even properly react, he found himself dead after a sharp pain in his neck.

...

As the ape charged at her, she thought.

'It seems rather slow compared to the wolf. If I can predict its attack right, I should be fine.'

As the ape neared, it leapt into the air, fist ready to slam her to the ground.

And as it reached the peak of its jump and started to descend rapidly, she walked in closer and jumped.

Grabbing onto its reached out fist, she grabbed ahold of his neck with her feet and twisted as hard as she could.

Surprisingly enough, the reached out arm of the ape was twisted to oblivion while its neck snapped.

She then fell to the ground and onto her back along with a large number of grey particles.

Groaning, she held her head in pain.

'Damn. Good thing I practised my movements on those trees for all that time.'

She praised herself as she sat up.

And again, she did not notice how a part of the ape had entered her body.

'God. My Everything hurts.'

She thought while lying on the ground without even the slightest bit of motion.
