Chapter 4 - Try Me!

Irene bolted towards the door, wanting to leave the room.

Brent moved in a speed of light, already at the door, blocking her way.

"You can't leave, sweetie. Let me explain!" Brent said. This time he was already fully dressed.

Irene took a step backward. "W-who are you? H-how did you come to my room?" she asked in a petrified voice, her body trembling in fright.

"First, you have to calm down. You can sit on the bed and I'll explain everything. Rest assured that I'm not a bad person. I will never hurt you!" Brent said in a serious tone.

Irene breathed deeply. What she's going to do now? This mysterious guy is not human! The fact that he appeared in her dream first and then become real, it's hard to comprehend!

She found herself walking to the bed and sitting on the edge, staring at the mysterious guy standing in front of the door, still blocking her way. She looked at him wanting to get to the bottom of everything. "Who are you? Just tell me the truth!" she yelled at him.

"I am the powerful vampire imprisoned in the silver ring that you're wearing in your finger right now," Brent answered, direct to the point.

"Whaaaaaaat-?" Irene's eyes narrowed in shock. She raised her hand and looked at the silver ring on her finger. "Y-you come from this ring?" she asked again, hoping that he was telling a lie.

Brent nodded his head and replied, "Yes!"

"B-but how come? I... I... don't understand, h...how?" Irene was shaking her head in disbelief.

Brent released a deep sigh. "It's a long story. I don't want to remember my past anymore. I don't want to discuss my past with anyone," he said.

"Y... you are the one responsible of my dream last night?" Irene asked.

"Yes. I made you dream of me last night. Using my power, I can do a lot of impossible things that you have no idea about," Brent responded.

Irene stared at the devilishly handsome guy in front of her. When she first saw him lying beside her on the bed earlier he was naked but all of a sudden he was now fully clothed. Which means this guy spoke the truth!

He's a powerful vampire!

Raw fear leaped from her eyes. "Stay away from me! Get lost and never show yourself to me ever again!" she shouted at him vehemently. She doesn't want to be associated with vampires and other paranormal beings, they terrifies her to the bones.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. The moment you wore the ring on your finger and chanted the words... Till death do us part... over and over again, you can never separate yourself from me. You and I are destined to be lovers forever, only death can separate us," Brent declared in a firm tone.

"B-but I don't want to have a vampire lover like you! You can't force me to like you!" she shouted angrily at his face.

Brent sighed deeply. "We are bound to each other whether you like it or not!" he insisted.

Irene was shaking her head, shutting her eyes tightly, praying to God that she was still dreaming. "Please God, wake me up from this terrible dream!" she prayed over and over again.

But when she opened her eyes, Brent was still there, standing in front of the door. Oh, God! He is indeed real!

Teary-eyed, she looked at her finger for a few seconds, then shifted her attention to the vampire who calls himself Brent. "If I can remove the ring from my finger, you will leave me alone?" she asked.

Brent looked at her quizzically. "Yes. But sorry to disappoint you, sweetie, there is no chance you can remove the ring from your finger," he warned her.

Irene sneered at him. "Try me!" she said, throwing him a challenge.

Brent's eyes narrowed after witnessing the determination shining in her eyes. "W-what are you going to do?"

Irene rose to her feet and walked towards the door. "Get out of my way!" she yelled at him.

"What are you going to do?" Brent asked suspiciously.

"I will go to the kitchen. I will sever my finger with a knife so that I can get rid of the ring on my finger and you will vanish from my life!" Irene said in a determined voice. If cutting her finger is the only way to get rid of this vampire from her life then so be it!

She will never associate herself with a vampire!

Sadness clouded Brent's handsome face. He stepped away from the door and allowed Irene to leave the room.

Irene walked past the vampire and went straight to the kitchen.

She arrived to the kitchen in no time. Without hesitation, she picked up the knife and glanced at the demon standing near the door. "I will get rid of this ring! I don't want to be associated with you!" she told him bravely.

"Just do it!" Brent challenged her, infuriated with her refusal to accept him as her mate.

Irene's hand was shaking while holding the knife, revealing her nervousness. She stared at the sharp knife for a few seconds. Does she have the courage to cut her finger?

"Are you brave enough?" Brent asked, smirking upon seeing the hesitation on her face.

Irene looked at him. "Get lost!" she shouted. Gathering all the courage that she can muster deep inside her, she placed her finger on the edge of the table, shut her eyes, and deliver the blow on her finger. Searing pain surged through her body as the knife cut deeper into her flesh, blood splattered on the table, she stopped for a moment, opened her eyes, and was greeted with the horrific sight of her blood dripping on the floor.

Irene's system shut down after seeing the blood oozing from her flesh. Darkness enveloped her senses, she fainted on the spot.

Brent was right beside Irene even before her body crumbled to the floor. "Silly girl!" he murmured. Carrying her in his arms, he went back to the room.

Brent settled Irene on the bed, he covered her bloody finger with his own, healing her hand in the process, vanishing the blood that tainted her flawless skin.

Then he placed his hand on her head, erasing this one particular horrific memory of hers from her mind, the memory when she cut her finger willingly just to remove the ring.

Sighing, he stared at her face for a long time. "Stupid girl! You would rather cut your finger just to avoid me? You can't escape me! Never! You are my woman!" he said, his eyes burning with passion.

After a while, he completely understand Irene's outburst, she was unprepared, shocked, and horrified by his sudden arrival in her life.

He should have taken a slow approach toward her.

He already scares her out of her wits.

But it's too late to regret what he had done. The damage has been done, and now he must find another way to win her trust.

He sat on the bed, staring at Irene's pretty face for a few minutes, pondering on what to do next.

He lowered his head and planted a kiss on Irene's lips, caressing her cheeks lovingly.

Then he lay down on the bed beside Irene and stay that way for a few minutes.

He's having an internal debate in his mind, should he be gentle with her or force her to accept him?

After all, Irene is his woman, his soulmate.

She should bond with him sooner or later!
