"You do know that you are the reason all of this is....!" Echo paused. She was trying to stand up, but winced in pain and sat back down.
Rose glared at Echo, "You are supposed to be a Protector! You should be able to get us out of here, but instead you're just crying in pain like a little baby!" She made a pouting face mocking Echo.
Leaning back Echo sighed, "Why do I even bother about these humans?" she mumbled to herself.
"Why can't you just use your magic, and get us out of here?" Rose asked.
"Why don't you ask that from your friend here? Hmm? She was able to teleport you inside here. Shouldn't you be able to teleport us outside too?" Echo turned her gaze from Rose to the butler,, with a raised eyebrow. She watched the butler, who silently considered her next steps.
Slumping on the ground in front of the Protector, the butler replied, "I'm out of energy."
'What is she talking about? I never heard about demons running out of energy. They just poof into smoke several times during a fight. She is definitely hiding something. Is she working with Rose and Denzel too?' Echo thought to herself.
"You've only attacked demons, and have spent only two days with us. You clearly have a lot to learn about demons," the butler answered, almost as if she had read Echo's mind.
___
Time passed and Echo was silent, despite Rose's frequent bickering and yelling. Echo had her eyes on the ground, and was deep in thought until she heard footsteps.
"I can't believe no one is coming to..." Rose kept on talking, but Echo interrupted her.
"Be quiet! Someone's coming," Echo whispered, lifting her head to the entrance of the cage.
A large human-like shadow approached. The shadow grew larger, and larger. Rose covered behind the butler in fear.
The footsteps stopped, in front of the archway to the room with the cage. Echo had her unwavering gaze on the shadow. She knew the shadow belonged either to a human, or a demon. It was simply the light that was exaggerating the shadow.
A dark silhouette stood at the archway to the room.
A loud shriek filled Echo's ears.
"AHHHHHH!!!!!" Rose screamed at the top of her lungs, once she saw the demon at the door.
The silhouette was slender and well built, which was a total contrast to the shadow they saw earlier. Who was the demon?
"Who's there?" the butler called out, startling Rose even more.
Stepping into the light, the silhouetted demon revealed himself. It was Denzel. He was silent, and glared at the butler.
"I knew it was you. I should have trusted my instincts, traitor," the words came out of his mouth void of emotions.
The butler glared back at Denzel. "You cannot do anything now, traitor! You have gone against your master, and are now trying to acuse me of being a traitor? How dare you?"
With Echo's sword in his hand, the demon stepped closer to the cage. "You deserve to rot in this cage." He hesitated when he held the lock.
'What is happening?' Echo thought to herself. She felt like she could get a headache from thinking about what was happening at the moment. 'Why is he calling her a traitor? Does it mean that the butler was actually on Damon's side, and telling the truth? But I've always felt like she was hiding something. Is this it? Was she acting weird because she was actually on our side?' Echo exhaled. Everything was a huge mess in her head, 'What about Rose? Is she genuinely on our side too?'
Before Echo could think further about the matter, the sound of the lock clicking reached her ears. Her eyes lit up once her eyes fell on the open door to the cage. What was happening? Why was Denzel opening the cage?
In a blink of an eye, the butler disappeared into a cloud of dark smoke, appearing behind Denzel.
Anticipating the butler's attack, Denzel vanished into smoke as well. He teleported a few feet back. Gripping Echo's sword in his hands, and with a clenched jaw he charged at the butler. How dare she go against them? He couldn't believe he was fooled by a mere, vile demon who was meant to serve demon's like him.
Denzel swung the sword at the butler, who dodged to the side.
Rose nearly bit her cheek when she scrunched her face. She began to shake in fear for the butler. In her eyes, if the butler died, there was no one capable of safely taking them back. She wanted to help, but her eyebrows pulled together when the sword grazed the butler's hand.
Too tired to think more about what was happening, Echo just stared blankly at the two demons fighting each other.
A fireball came out of the butler's hand, and continued on towards Denzel. Simply lifting the sword up, he blocked.
Being pushed back just a little, Denzel charged once again. The butler moved swiftly, evading all of Denzel's attacks.
"I expected more from you, Denzel," the butler scoffed, with a mocking smile. She stretched her hands to the sides. Fire balled up in both her hands. She clenched her jaw, and squinted her eyes.
Denzel smirked, he dropped the sword to the ground, "So that's how you want to play this!" He held his hands to the side, and his chin raised high as his eyes turned dark.
Eyes widened, Echo watched the fight. Things were about to get interesting. She watched Denzel with awe. He had powers similar to Damon, but she could feel that he was nowhere near as strong as Damon.
A dark smoke formed around Denzel. Electricity cackled around the smoke, almost like lightning in a storm cloud.
The butler's eyes went wide, she felt her hands shake. "How is he so powerful?" she mumbled to herself. "This can't be! The only demons with so much power are..."
