His voice calmed her down, she felt like she had finally got some air after drowning. "Sorry… I was just…" she turned around, and froze. He was standing so close to her that her chest was touching his. He trapped her between the railing of the balcony, while moving closer to her.
Her cheeks were red, as she redirected her gaze away from him shyly. Anywhere, she just wanted to look anywhere besides his face.
Damon smiled at her reactions. Her adorableness was just pulling him more to her. She knew exactly what to do to make his heart melt, and the worst thing was that she didn't know what she was doing.
Right now, the stare she was giving him compelled him to land his lips on hers. But he restrained himself, in thoughts that he might scare her away. She had always been a tender girl, especially when it came to men, and after all he was her first love. It seemed right for him to take things slow with her.
Stepping back from Echo, Damon looked at the open slider. "Shall we go have breakfast?"
"Hmm," she replied, unable to speak. She was confused, and had so many questions. Why did he pull away like that? Did she do something wrong? What was it?... Why did he suddenly want to eat breakfast, instead of spending time with her on the balcony? Was it because she smiled at Sebastian?
Echo racked her brain trying to understand what had happened.
"Echo!" Damon called, standing near the sliding door. She looked at him, as he continued, "Are we not going? I noticed a button to a restaurant on the lift yesterday."
"Let's go," Echo replied, smiling as wide as possible to hide her real emotions. Honestly she was anxious, and curious. She wanted answers for her questions. She followed him, as he smiled and put his arm around her shoulder once she was close to him.
She led the way to the restaurant, and once they arrived, they settled at a table. The waitress brought in a menu, and the two of them placed their orders.
Damon admired the restaurant, "This place is beautiful. Looks really luxurious."
Echo smiled, "It does… actually that was my very first thought too. I was so in awe of this place."
He smiled, turning his gaze back to Echo, "It's not as pretty as the girl sitting in front of me." He earned a shy chuckle from her.
"Damon please!" She hid her cheeks from him, as she blushed. He was so good at making her heart swoon. He knew just the right things to make her fall more for him, and make her shy.
Damon smirked at her reactions, he couldn't help but keep staring at her, making her even more embarrassed.
Their food arrived, and the two began digging into it. Several stares from other Protectors went unnoticed. After breakfast, the two walked back into the lift.
"Where do you want to go now?" Echo asked, turning to Damon.
"I don't mind going anywhere, as long as you're around," was his reply.
"Then, let's go to the library!" Echo blurted, she pressed the button on the lift, and continued, "You can meet my new friends too if they're there."
She smiled, and led Damon out of the lift once they were on the correct floor, and eventually reached the library. Once they entered, Echo immediately spotted Jasmine, Jane, Sebastian and the commander at the same table they always sat at.
Approaching them she smiled, but did not notice that Damon's smile had long vanished since he spotted Sebastian. Instead now he was giving them a menacing glare.
"Echo. Damon," the commander acknowledged the two, which caused the group to turn their attention to the two.
Sebastian returned Damon's glare, as he proceeded to glance at Echo. "What's all this?"
The commander kept his gaze on Damon as he replied, "A little freedom for him, one small mistake, and she'll be in trouble."
"I don't think he'll care that much if she was in trouble," Sebastian blurted, still glaring at Damon.
Echo glanced at the commander and Sebastian, "'She' is here, and can hear you… and might also be thinking of ways to kill you right now!"
"Don't worry, that wasn't a threat for you," Sebastian replied, turning his gaze to Echo.
To which Echo replied with, "Weren't you supposed to be practising with your squad outside?"
Sebastian smiled, "I was out there early in the morning. I need a break too," he glanced at Jane as he ended his sentence.
Echo rolled her eyes, and sat down, urging Damon to sit next to her.
"You look different, like you're glowing…" Jasmine was interrupted when Jane almost screamed.
"Did something happen??!!!"
"What?" Echo whipped her head to face Jane. Her eyes were so wide that her eyes looked like they would pop out.
Damon smirked, taking this as an opportunity to put Sebastian in his place, "So what if something happened?" He glanced at Sebastian to see his reaction.
Sebastian smirked, realising what Damon was doing. He had no interest in Echo, but he wanted to make sure that Damon wasn't playing her. He gave Damon a cold glare.
"What happened?" Sebastian asked.
"Nothing!" Echo blurted, she glared at Damon, and back at Sebastian.
Damon glanced at Echo, she noticed that he looked a little upset. She knew what she said was rude, since they kissed, and something did happen. But he had not asked her to be his girlfriend. Would he even ask her? And then again, Sebastian was looking for a fight, and Damon was wary of him. She had to think about what could happen if a fight broke out between the two… the commander might put Damon back in the dungeons.
'Why did she say that?' Damon thought to himself, continuing, 'We kissed last night, and decided to spend the whole day together… Something did happen, but why isn't she acknowledging it? Is she shy? Or did any of that mean nothing to her? Is she doing everything because she's scared of me, or am I just pushing her to do this, and she doesn't really want to be with me?'
