Chapter 14 - "Missing Her or not"

The Next day,

"Ling! Ling! wake up, don't you have school today?" Ling's mother a women with short height curly hair and a little chubby body said as she knocked at her door.

.

"Just five more minutes..." Ling muttered in her sleep.

"No more 5 more minutes! wake up right now!"

"Ahh!!" Ling groaned in annoyance when suddenly a notification popped in her phone.

.

NingNing♡

Ning:(Ling I won't go to school today...a mild fever..)

Ling read the message and all her sleep was gone within a second.

"How did she get a fever all of a sudden?" Ling muttered while typing her reply.

Ling: (Okay, take care. I will crash at your place after school.)

Ning: (Okay..)

.

"(Judging by her reply something is up for sure.)"

"Ling Are you awake or not?" Her mother shouted once again but this time she was banging at at door loudly.

"I am up! stop slamming the door it was repaired just last week!" Ling said as she jumped out of her bed and rushed towards the bathroom.

.

"I will be going now!" Ling said as she wore her shoes and opened the door.

The journey from home to school was quiet and boring for Ling.

"Hah, without Ning everything is so dull." She murmered while walking towards her classroom where she was greeted by almost all of them and she replied back to them with the same enthusiasm.

.

It was true that Ling was popular and Eveyone's favorite and there was never a day when she was alone but still Ning held a place in her heart that no one else could ever make. And without her today she is indeed not alone but for sure she is lonely inside.

.

"Hey Ling! Where is Ning? Did she not come with you today?" Yuan asked as he sat on his seat followed by Feng who noticed her Ning absence too.

"She won't be coming today."

"Why?" Yuan aksed as he looked at her.

"Because she is sick, a mild fever she said..." Ling said with a sigh.

.

"But she was fine yesterday?"

"I know right! Maybe she is having a emotional breakdown again..." Ling muttered the last part in an unaudioable voice while looking at her hands while a the memory of a girl crying in a corner comes in her mind again.

.

"Feng Ge, what are thinking about?" Yuan asked to Feng who was in daze throughout the morning classes and even now during the lunch break.

"Nothing...just wondering about this and that.." Feng replied as he took a spoon ful of rice and placed with it.

.

"Hmm, And here I thought you were feeling worried about Ning or maybe even guilty." Yuan said bluntly while Feng chocked on his own saliva.

"Yuan! Why would I feel guilty?"

"Woah does that mean you are actually worried about Ning?"

"What?"

"What you ignored my first question and jumped into the second one that means you are indeed worried about her."

"Yuan...we are classmates so isn't it naturally for me to be worried?" Feng asked as he mentally rolled his eyes.

"Hmm, you got a point there." Yuan said as he placed a finger on his chin.

.

"Cut the crap and tell me why do you think that I would feel guilty?"

"Well...I just thought so you know like in an cliche drama where the Male lead starts to act distant and cold which makes the female lead so sad that she becomes sick and than the Male lead feels guilty--"

"Stop! Just stop! First this isn't a drama, second we aren't just characters and third I am not the one at fault!" Feng said in an irritated tone.

.

"Sure, Sure no need to shout. Just chill okay I was just pulling your leg." Yuan said as he smiled at him sillyly while looking at the people around them.

"That wasn't funny. Not even a bit!" Feng said as he stood up and left the cafeteria.

"Did I over did it? I don't think so." Yuan thought as he continued eating.

.

School ended faster then usual and Feng was again busy with his cleaning duties.

"Just how in the world does so many litter come in this auditorium? No matter how much I clean there was always dust avaliable the very next day." He said as she stated to sweep the floor.

.

*5 minutes passed*

He started humming a tune

*10 minutes passed*

He washed the seats

*20 minutes passed*

"Ugh!! I can't do this anymore!" Feng stated as he pulled out his phone form his back pocket and looked into contact, but his hands suddenly freezed.

.

"..Wait...I don't have her number..and why am I even doing this?..." Feng said as he looked at his phone message search list where the name 'Ning' was typed with the words 'No results found' in the screen written in bold.

.

Meanwhile with Ning,

"Is she still sleeping?" Ning's father asked as he looked at his wife sitting beside her.

"Hmm.."

"Did she eat the lunch?"

"Yeah"

"The medicine?"

"Already taken"

.

*sigh*

"Did you two had a fight again?" Ning's father asked as he looked at his wife who stopped looking at the TV and turned towards him.

"I guess you two did...Now what did she do this time? And what did you say to her again?" He asked with a smile..a tired smile.

.

"Why do you sound as if like I am the reason she is like this?" She aksed while glaring at him.

"Honey, I am not saying that it's all your fault, nor am I saying that Ning isn't at fault but you know only our Ning is a sensitive child and she is in adolescent period, she might not really understand our views afterall she is still growing but we as her parents must try to understand her, and at the same time we must guess her some space.."

.

"But--"

"Qing I understand giving space wasn't a thing back then but right now the world is different, so let's try to move on form our old customs...and accept the new world..for our daughter? Okay?"

.

"Gao...you are spoling her a little too much." She said while standing up and moving towards the refrigerator.

"She is my only daughter but did you get what I said? And what are you doing?"

"What does it look like?" She asked back while holding a ice cream box and spoon in her hand.

.

"You are not thinking of giving her ice cream during a fever, are you?"

"Of course I am and she didn't have a fever to sttt with." She said while walking towards Ning room while leaving her dumbfounded husband in the living room.

.

"Hah, the mother daughter relationship." He said while a smile crept on his face.
