Spikes chased Rory while barking. Rory heard the front door opening.
"Who's there?" Frank shouted. And Rory heard the sound of a shotgun cocking.
Spikes was barking at her although he didn't follow her anymore. She knew Frank would shoot in her direction if Spikes kept on barking.
"Come on out!" Frank shouted and stepped out to the porch. Rory saw Derick has joined Frank too and turned on all the outdoor lights.
Rory didn't stop. She didn't want them to know that she is planning on leaving the house. They won't let her.
"Stupid dog! Go away!"
She hissed at the dog and hid behind a bush. She would be caught if she moves even a bit. She hugged Ellie close, hoping that she would sleep more comfortably in her embrace. She hoped Derick won't come out for a sweep.
