Liam expected someone to walk in, but the door shut open. He just went on staring at his finger.
He heard the knob turning again and he looked at the door. He heard some guys talking but he couldn't recognize the voices and he couldn't see anyone. The door shut and the voices stopped.
Is this some kind of mental game?
He looked down. He didn't know what kind of questions they will ask him when they start questioning him. All he could see right now was Rory's tear-filled eyes.
The knob turned for the third time. He didn't look at the door this time. Only when he heard the thumping sound of boots on the floor did he look up. A cop was there with a takeout bag.
"You must be hungry," he said and walked closer.
Liam shrugged and shook the handcuffs. He should be hungry. But he did not feel like eating anything. It baffled him how the scent of his favorite cheeseburger from his favorite fast food joint is giving him an urge to throw up.
