"I...left something here, and I came to pick it up," Rory lied.
She walked inside her grandmother's office as she did not want others to hear her conversation.
Lying is the only way she knew to communicate with her family. Because they were so uncaring and because of her insecurities, she always tried to appear perfect. She did not want to lose her home.
And at times(after marriage), she would storm off when they touch a nerve. She always had Liam's house to stay at. It has become a habit of hers. Although she knew it is wrong, she couldn't help it.
"I don't remember you taking the key. What is the key you are having?" Mrs. Delport questioned.
"It's..." Rory let out a sigh. "How is grandma doing?" she changed the topic.
"She's... you know. This stroke did a number on her... She's awake but she's not all..."
"Stay by her side and look after her, Mrs. Delport," Rory meant it. "I'll visit her in the morning."
