The moment Megan saw Derick, she started to shout and scream profanities at Rory.
*Slap*
Without saying anything, Rory slapped her. Megan trembled and started scrubbing the floor. Derick said that it was the first time he saw a real expression on her face--fear.
Derick only then noticed that Rory's hands were as red as Megan's cheeks. And the living room looked messed up as if there was a scuffle. Derick guessed that there was a fight, and obviously, the winner of the fight was Rory.
Rory did not leave immediately and tried to reason with Megan. Megan was hurt, or rather her pride was hurt. She kept on blaming Derick for abandoning her to get bullied by his cousin.
He did feel pity for his wife mostly because he was conditioned to think that his wife was pitiful by his wife.
But as he tried to make her understand his feelings, he saw that she was not willing to listen to him. She mocked him for being a man and having feelings.
