After an almost twenty-minute hike, Pete found himself near a water body. Gurgling pleasantly, a clear, narrow stream cut across his path. There were no bridges across. A rickety wooden culvert offered the only passage to the other side.
The boy recalled why he had avoided taking the path to the Bridge of Fortitude the last time. Even though it had seemed intriguing from a gaming standpoint, it had given off the vibes of a higher-level stage in the game.
'When you seek true strength, you are welcome,' the directions had said.
'What does that even mean?' Pete thought. 'What does the game want from me?'
How much more strength did he need? The Robinhood System along with its dark counterpart gave him so much power that he died twice already. The more and more he played, the more he engaged in the game elements... the more confusing things had become.
Why couldn't it be just a regular game with a linear storyline?
