During the entire time, he would catch Naomi's eyes in the crowd and when they locked eyes, she would pretend to look somewhere else.
He was literally shot in the stomach by Kitsunes and they had bodly told him they would kidnap Naomi and take her away; probably to hurt her. Barton had his eyes on her during the party and entire oath but he just wanted to make sure.
These creatures were sneaky and what was worse? They could morph into anyone and he wouldn't have a clue.
