The woman beams and happily charges everything to my card, and moments later, my phone buzzes in my pocket, which I'm sure is a notification charge from my credit card. Riri stares in my direction but I keep my attention on the purchase, not wanting to see the look in her eyes. I'm not trying to impress her. I've already planned on paying for her stuff, so I'm just doing it.
I take the bag and we walk out of the store. She's quiet as we trail back on the path we took going in, pausing when the group in front of us stopped for a bit.
"I wouldn't have bought those if I knew you were paying for them," Riri starts, the expression on her face unreadable. "I just forgot I didn't have cash on me and only remembered I keep a credit card on my phone for emergencies."
"It's okay." And it was. She's worried about the total amount of all the products she chose but I don't really give a fuck.
