Now, he could breathe proper fresh air. While the improvised gas mask was good, it could only filter about 70-75 percent of the radiation in the air but this gas mask seems to filter about 90 percent of the radioactive fog, making it very ideal to wear than the improvised gas mask.
Ryver closed his eyes, inhaling deep fresh air. While it hadn't been long, he still missed the taste of clean oxygen entering his nose.
Almost a few seconds later, he heard the shuffling footsteps of three people coming from the other side of the building. The ground floor was very spacious but half of it was demarcated by the escalators that lead to the second floor of the building.
On the other side, there were two more elevators built at that particular side of the building, allowing for more lifts for the customers and the workers.
Ryver determined they were coming from the other side of the building, which meant that whatever their mission was, had something to do with the elevator. It was certainly important seeing as they were willing to attract the attention of zombies by letting the elevator drop to the ground, as obvious by the explosion he had heard earlier.
Since there was no trace of destruction on the ground floor, it meant that there was another underground building below this floor and in there resides their mission.
Previously there was a rumour before the nuclear explosion that Mega-Tech had started producing their own Nano-Cell, a process which was banned by the government and of course the superpower called Mega-tech denied every claim of producing such items and since there was no evidence to prove otherwise, the company was let off.
Suddenly, everything started to click to Ryver like a piece of a puzzle as he put two and two together. It seems the rumour was quite true or close to the truth.
Nano cells were basically nanobots that replaced the very cells in the body. They performed the function of the cells in the body but by more than a hundred times!
When a bone breaks or when your skin is cut, your body immediately begins producing new cells to heal the damage created, using the injured cells and new healthy cells, your body starts to repair the damaged tissue.
But with the Nano Cells, the process is sped up by more than a hundred times. Closing up any cut in the skin almost immediately!
And that was just one of the functions of the Nano cells, there were still other uses of the nanocellls apart from instant healing, they could also replace the blood in the body, taking over the job of the blood within the body.
The only disadvantage of the Nano Cell is that the transfusion of the Nano cell is a very painful process and non ever survived the arduous transfusion. The pain of one's cell being replaced is similar to every piece of bone and flesh in one's body literally being peeled away ever so slowly. It's not something an ordinary person could endure. Even heavily trained soldiers that claim not to feel any pain stilled ended up dying from the pain, therefore the government stopped any production of the item and locked the project down.
'But it seems Megatech didn't give up the idea of replacing the cells on one's body with Nanocells. There's probably a lab somewhere, maybe underground.'
Ryver muttered to himself and then blinked. All of a sudden, he stretched out his hand from behind the pillar he was hiding, grabbing onto the assault rifle of a man who was about to pass him.
Drawing the rifle close, the man staggered towards him and was about to say something when a hand clamped down on his neck, restraining him from voicing out.
There was a sudden sound of bones cracking and the man's head forcefully changed shape, strangely bent at an unnatural angle. The man was slowly laid to the ground and from the blinking of his eyes, one could tell he was strangely still alive to witness his own death, dying rather slowly and painfully.
"Dichen?" A female voice called from the other side with a questioning tone, but there was no answer.
The female mercenary glanced at her other male partner who nodded with a solemn expression. Seeing the man nod, the lady immediately tapped below her neck, speaking.
"Boss, we need more backup, we are been taken out one by one."
Ryver's brows raised up slightly. He hadn't expected the last to call it in so quickly. Mercenaries were proud people and they always think they are better than other mercenaries. They would have concluded the death of their partner was due to his lack of skill, and think they could have done better in his situation rather than admit the enemy was very skilled.
But these two people instantly called it in , asking for more backup which was a bit surprising and off character.
They already know where he was, but they were not advancing, they were waiting for more of their people to arrive or their captain.
Personally, Ryver would like to meet with the Boss, he seem like a person who can put up a great fight, but first, he needed to deal with the small fries.
"WHOOSH!!!"
Ryver sped through the ground like a panther, his steps were light but almost at the same time heavy. In just a single step, he had traversed three meters. Another step, another three meters and he was just five meters away from them before the two started to react as they opened fire immediately.
Ryver wasn't worried the bullet would touch him as he performed Standard Bullet Evasive Technique. He had a feeling basic bullet evasive technique wouldn't be able to affect these two by much and would get used to the technique, but standard bullet evasive technique was more complicated than the basic, confusing the opponent with body movement.
Bullets streamed past his face, flying past him like the touch of a lover's lips, except this situation was even more dangerous than that.
