The first blade stabbed at the wings of the Mutant, incapable of piercing forward, getting stuck on the thick bone. Nevertheless, it was as though Ryver had anticipated this. His second combat blade moved and unexpectedly, they changed directions swiftly.
Blood splattered as the blade impaled deeply into the stomach of the creature, puncturing its kidney. The creature was in shock as it hadn't expected to have been injured despite its extremely rapid reactions.
"SCREEEE!"
The remarkably sharp pitch ripple blasted into Ryver's eardrums, making his entire body tremble slightly. But he wasn't disorientated like what had transpired during his battle with the Sabre-Tooth tiger.
He kicked backwards heavily against the wall, his body jerked in a forward motion as he thrust powerfully against the creature, making its body incline forwards against the staircase bar, toward the gap in the middle that seem go endlessly without a bottom.
The creature shrieked even louder as it struggled, but by then it was too late.
BAM!
The wall behind him shook again as he hit rearward once more, the force directly nudged him forwards, the knife impaling even deeper into the body of the creature as It was knocked down into the chasm.
Ryver rapidly backed up. Receiving an attack from a powerful beast was one thing and falling a few hundred of meters downwards was another thing. While he might be able to survive the attack of a powerful beast, even if he had ten times his optimism and constitution, he was aware surviving the fall would be unbelievable.
Abruptly, Ryver's eyes flashed and his expression altered slightly as his lips mouthed the words 'F**K'
As though snatched by a rope, his body was yanked off the staircase with severe force as he was pulled down the hole. At the last minute, the talon of the Mutant had hooked against his tightly wrapped bandages, pulling him backwards before he could react.
"Clang! Clang! Clang!"
Sounds of meaty flesh and bones hitting metal resounded as the two bodies fell downwards to the ground.
But in the next second, the Mutant had managed to clasp hold of the metal case on what seemed to be the 29th floor.
Ryver's body was spinning around continuously, slamming onto metal casings, concretes and metals. As his body slams onto an object, the impact augmented with gravitational force generates an even more stronger kinetic energy which seem to multiply his descending momentum each second.
If he didn't do anything, deducing he could even do something, he would most likely die from the bouncing impact before he actually gets to the ground.
From the corner of his eyes, he noticed that below him, the Bird had managed to stabilize itself with the concrete of a stair below. And if given just a second, it could adjust itself and cross over the staircase into the stair it was presently in.
But how could Ryver let that happen? Just as his body was about to crash into another metal, he pivoted his waist, making his entire body shift as his momentum gathered towards a particular direction, he kicked back against the next object and dived downwards as though he was skydiving.
Now he was no longer spinning and bouncing around like a disco ball.
The Mutant screeched and its entire body emitted an intense murderous tide of energy noticing Ryver was heading towards it.
The leathery wings flapped in fury, but there was presently an obvious alarm in its eyes. Yet even though it was made for air and could also fly with its wings, the space within the stairs was too restricted for it to flap its wings.
"BAM!"
Ryver slammed into it like a cannonball, allowing the both of them to plummet towards the ground with even more intense velocity.
The Mutant couldn't help but think that Ryver was a complete mad man! With his manoeuvre there, as long as he could pull two or three more of these stunts, his plummeting speed would wane and he would have been able to stop his plunge, reaching for one of the other floors, but Ryver didn't do that, as though he had renounced survival, he preferred to pursue him while they plummet, how could he not call Ryver a mad man?
Naturally, Ryver also realized this and was well aware that with a little bit of aerial manoeuvring, he could very well land safely on one of the other floors but then, it would just be too easy. Moreover, he couldn't let the Mutant escape since he was in need of its spinal fluid.
"Whoosh!"
The wind wailed loudly to their ears as they fell downwards, fog rushing to their faces. But Ryver was protected. They would surely fall to their death if attention is not taken. The Mutant let out a piercing shriek and it reared its head back as its dried up bony beak stabbed toward Ryver's face.
They were very close and Ryver could practically smell a putrid reek of dead and decayed skin and tissur cells wafting from the mutant's body.
Seeing its beak strike towards his face Ryver had already flipped his blade to a reverse grip and a loud sound of metals scraping against each other echoed as the blade shifted the direction of the attack, letting the sharp beak graze past his cheek, sparks lighting up the darkness within.
With his other hand, he swiftly punched heavily downwards at the mutant's chest, but it was as though he had whacked a hard lifeless tree, bringing out an unlively thud sound that echoed.
There appeared to be an incomprehensible sneer on the face of the Mutant as it glanced at Ryver mockingly.
Ryver's punch barely had an effect on its body, its physique stronger than the amount of force Ryver could produce with his punch alone.
The Mutant suddenly twisted its body, clasping onto Ryver's shoulder with its fore-talons, it swirled in mid-air and Ryver's legs jutted outwards and with a loud bang, his legs involuntarily smashed against a nearby steel staircase, with the gravitational force they were falling at, an ordinary human's legs might have been severed, or at the very least, shattered!
