Ryver had expected something like this, but it was worth the try. Ding!
The elevator came up and the door opened. Ryver was relieved to see the elevator hadn't been affected. He was about to step in when he heard something through shards of glass on the floor.
He paused in his steps and glanced sideways at Richard's corpse. The corpse slowly stood up clumsily, its body shook as it glanced around, and then it locked onto Ryver. Its eyes stared at him, the deep hatred that had been there before he died suddenly appeared behind its mucky white eyes. Exploding with killing intent.
Ryver was surprised. "You recognise me?"
Zombie Richard didn't say a word or rather, he couldn't. Its head dropped backwards and the slit on its neck opened up.
ROOOAR!
Ryver's expression changed slightly. Immediately entered the elevator, clicking on the button going to the ground floor. The elevator door slowly closed.
Richard hissed loudly and immediately took chase. Its speed was even faster than an ordinary zombie and it was already in front of the elevator, but it was too late, only a five-centimetre space remained was left and it was closing rapidly.
Suddenly, the slit on Richard's neck opened and a sharp tongue shot out from the slit-like a bullet, stabbing toward Ryver.
Ryver swiftly twisted his neck while he fell backwards sideways. There was a thud sound as the tongue pierced the elevator wall behind and then retracted.
The tongue retreated and the elevator's door closed as it descended downwards. Ryver's brows remained furrowed. Richard turning into a zombie was within his calculations. The radiation seems to automatically mutate a corpse back to life, this was one of the reasons he killed him in the first place. He just didn't think he would transform into a variant form of a zombie. Was it the grudge?
He saw the hatred within Richard's eyes and he knew for sure it was a strong one.
Ryver clicked on the 49th-floor button, he was going back up there. He wasn't someone to leave a task unfinished. Unfinished business always leads to variables and variables were something Ryver loathe, he tried to put everything within his calculations.
The bag would hinder him during combat, so he decisively dropped the bag on the elevator's floor, took off his boots and his overall and began his preparation for the upcoming battle.
Muzak rang out within the elevator's speaker and Ryver hummed to the background music.
Time passed and a few seconds had gone by. The elevator then chimed to a stop while the doors opened slowly.
BANG!
A sharp tongue extended from the tiny space between the still expanding doors, stabbing through the bag Ryver had placed on the elevator's ground.
But there was no one within the elevator. Richard roared loudly as it entered into the elevator on all fours, sniffing Ryver's clothes and the bag, angrily ripping them to shreds. Suddenly it seem to have noticed something as it sniffed upwards.
Ryver moved, falling headfirst through the elevator's escape hatch. He kicked towards the roof, increasing his descending speed. He stabbed his combat knife right into the skull of the zombie, landing on its back as it collapsed to the floor.
Roooar!
The zombie roared, enraged as it struggled, slamming into the elevator walls aggressively. Ryver couldn't hold on much longer, his body was blasted backwards as he slammed into one of the intact glass walls. He kicked at the wall, propelling his body sideways as he rolled on the ground.
A sharp object pierced through the spot he had previously been standing. Ryver moved quickly and he was before Richard's room. The door was still opened therefore there was no need to consume more time unlocking it. Ryver swiftly entered the room.
He was about to shut the door when he felt an enormous force pound the door open, pushing him backwards. Ryver used the impact to leap over the sofa and quickly hid behind it.
The zombie's strength must have entered two points or possibly three points, combined with the extra ability to stab its tongue forwards, it was even more powerful than the regular zombies.
The zombie screeched through the slit in its neck, revealing three sharpened rows of teeth. It pushed the glass table away, breaking it in the process as it scanned for Ryver's whereabouts.
A combat knife was still embedded deeply into its skull, but it appeared to be unaffected by the wound. It's as though its brain wasn't located in its head much longer.
The zombie snarled, searching for Ryver as it got closer to the sofa he was hiding. Immediately it reached the corner of the sofa, Ryver moved.
He slid forwards, slashing his blade at the back knee of the zombie. Richard cried out loud as it fell on one knee. It swiped its claw forwards, but it was as though Ryver had expected it. He rolled sideways, avoiding the claw.
His hand moved fast as he pierced his knife at the arm that the zombie had swiped forwards with. The blade hooked into its arm bones, Ryver tugged at the blade, pulling himself forwards until he was behind the zombie.
He quickly withdrew the blade from between the arm bone. He held the zombie's hair in one hand and immediately drove his combat blade from the slit in its neck into its skull.
Screeeech!
Ryver was blasted backwards as the zombie reflexively slapped him. His body flew backwards, crashing into the fallen mini bar as he rolled sideways. His nose mask had also fallen off.
Ryver groaned with a grin on his face as he stood up, watching Richard's corpse collapse to the ground. Its long tongue flailing and twitching on the ground and then there was no motion from it again.
Ryver didn't relax yet. It wasn't until he saw the flashing red notification from his bionic smart lens did his guard drop a little.
He went towards the corpse and cleaned his blades with Richard's bathrobe.
Ryver had dropped his overall, his shirt and his pants back at the elevator. Those which had been pierced through by the zombie's sharp tongue and shredded.
He rummaged through the Richard's closet and found a few clothes to his liking. The shirt was a long sleeve body hugger while the pant he chose was a black fitted Jean.
Ryver stared at the flashing notification and the message immediately expanded.
