Chapter 4 - A Strange One

The staff member stayed in the room that she led Clark to. It was a basic and open training room with enough space for two tamed beasts to fight. It struck Clark as weird that no one else was present. "Um, miss? Where is the examiner?"

"Oh, that's simple. It's me. I offered to help out my father and take this shift for him since our usual examiner is sick at home." This raised more questions for Clark than he had before. It was clear that she could see this and decided to throw a little weight around. "My name is Clara or better known as the flame stripe swordswoman." A small striped red cat waltzed from behind a few training equipment in the room. It was a very rare spirit beast that Clark had only heard about in school.

'Flame striped lynx- (seventh tier)

This is a very unique and rare spirit beast. The flame striped lynx is a unique spirit beast that can transform in to a weapon that enhances the strength of the tamer to a higher degree. The enhancement type spirit beasts like this are rare since they do not often take weapon form. The flame striped lynx has the ability to change in to a saber that can send slashes of strong flames for a decent distance. The older the lynx becomes and the more fire related materials it consumes will strengthen it. The most evolved are known to become higher than king class.'

Clark saw more information about what materials could be fed to increase the strength of the flame striped lynx. However, he was not able to comprehend what they were to their fullest degree. He was knowledgeable about basic materials but not the very high grade ones mentioned in the analysis. But what stuck out the most was the fact that the cat was seventh tier. It was very strong.

"Hm? You seem a little surprised. Can you tell that my little darling is tough. I'll tell you a secret. She's seventh tier. That's top end of the spirit tamer's. If you plan to take this seriously and get a high evaluation from me, then you should show me everything you have. It's not every day that I take over a shift here." The staff member was definitely not a normal staff member. Clark had too much evidence now.

"Devi, go all out and show off all your skills. I want to show them just how tough we are." Clark could feel his bond with Devi. The two were both on the same page and getting fired up. What Clark had not yet realized was the fact that he had a spirit beast now. All the strengthening he had been missing from his proper connection all these years had rushed to his body. He was much stronger now too. Adding that on top of the brutal training he had forced himself to do so that he could keep up, well, it was more than he knew.

"Now, come at me and my darling!" The flame striped lynx jumped in to the air. It melted in to flames and appeared as a bright red rapier with flames drifting off of it. The heat was intense but held back.

With the intention of going all out, Clark didn't think twice about attacking himself. In a real life or death fight, one would not allow their spirit beast to take all the weight. Why else would his body become stronger as well? The basic martial arts that Clark had trained were nothing special. However, Clark had heard the phrase, be afraid of the man who has practiced the same move a thousand times, not the man who had practiced a thousand moves once. Therefore, his movements were ingrained within his muscles. The basics were his foundation.

While maniacal laughter began to echo around the room, Clark dashed forward. Right when it appeared he was about to tackle and meet the appointed end of the rapier, Clark twisted to the side. His kick would have knocked a normal person or even an experienced rank tamer off their feet. This was not a novice tamer that had not at all registered in higher education to take better classes.

Since Clara was a little thrown off by this, she lost her senses for a moment. Just enough time for Devi to chomp down on her arm. The bite marks that appeared out of nowhere caused Clara to feel pins and needles all over her arm and down her body. The feeling was worse than what she had felt in this way. Not many people would find the feeling of their solid energy being bitten off to be bearable. She had underestimated Clark.

Flames burst around her, Devi was thrown back toward a wall and on the opposite side so was Clark. The gut reaction had been more than Clark could have expected and just like Devi, he was knocked out cold. "What in the hell are you kid?" Clara had no idea what she had just found.

"I took this shift to cover things here and found a weird one." She grabbed the papers that she had stuffed in her pocket earlier. They were the records from the identification earlier. She found that Cark had been said to be beastless, yet she was looking at an unconscious one right now. One that was too rare. One that she had never heard of. On top of that, she knew that Clark's kick would have been more than just a soft tap like any other novice tamer's kick would be. Clark had strength, training, and a spirit beast that no one had ever seen.

"You had this invisible thing hiding out your whole life? Or did it just take that long to hatch like a tyrant does." The possibilities were too great, but Clara easily narrowed things down after reading through again. "No, you had to have trained yourself without a best. That means you thought you were beastless too. That beast of yours was invisible and you didn't actually learn of it until now. You might be the next god tier beast tamer with a tier ten spirit beast…"

Clara made sure that Clark was alright along with Devi. she didn't feel right touching Devi but saw the slight movements a sleeping beast would have. After this, she moved to grab the appropriate paperwork. A tamer with such high potential shouldn't be public. She would make sure that Clark was kept safe and well until he could get to a proper academy with proper security. The world was a messy place. Not only were their beasts going berserk in the wilds, but devious humans. "This over excited kid needs to learn a few things. I will give you a special recommendation." Clara began to fill out a long letter while sitting on the examination room table.

As she signed her name and sealed the envelope with a wax mark showing her family crest; a flaming lion. Clark's groans caused her to turn her head. Clara focused on him just as he moved to sit up. "You seem like you are doing alright now. Sorry for that, I didn't expect that little ghost of yours to bite that hard. It caused me to react above your tier. As an apology, I have already set up your tamer's identification and license, and a special recommendation to my academy. I graduated from there a few years ago, Nova Academy. You should know how hard it is to get recommended there. Just count yourself lucky that I saw something interesting on you." Clara handed the letter along with the new spatial and identification ring. Clark was too dazed to properly respond until he was about to be pushed from the room.

"Wait, who are you? Who are you other than just Clara?"

"Me? I'm Clara Mane. the first daughter of the Mane family. My father is the great general with a tier nine scarlet Flame lion spirit beast."
