'Rock lizard egg- common
The rock lizard…
Cloud sparrow egg- common
The cloud…
Fanged monkey egg- common
Horned rabbit egg- common
Fluffy tailed bat egg- common'
Clark found that the eggs were mostly common eggs. The first five were all monsters without high combat ability unless they were trained specifically. Most people would get them as a pet for around their jobs since they would get a strength or other body boosts from their bonds.
"Where are the higher ranked beast eggs?" Clark found a staff member nearby the pedestals. They looked at him, then recognized the different uniform. This was enough to change the potential attitude and point Clark in the right direction.
'Steel worm egg- uncommon
The steel worm eats iron ore exclusively. They are able to process the ore in to an extremely tough steel skin. They can also dive under the ground to attack prey. They sense very small movements on the surface making them also good for scouting. They are very weak to water and fire type attacks. Their lifespan is fairly long along with their growth potential.'
This was a decent beast for Clark to consider. The defense and surprise attack potential were there. However, the more he thought about it the more he realized the hidden challenge. This beast lived for a long time and exclusively ate steel ore. It would be very costly to raise. Whereas Devi only needed soul energy which he got from the bond with Clark or their opponents.
'Thick tailed alligator- rare
The thick tailed alligator is a very dangerous water type beast. They are known for their extremely tough skin and heavy attacks. They are weak in terms of speed but can make up for that with their defensive prowess. These beasts are often trained by body guards to protect valuable clients. They have a very low growth potential but will remain tough for many years.'
"Hmm, maybe. But I need something that explains away the attacks that you might do." Clark was mumbling to himself when his eyes caught a separate section of eggs without labels next to them. Clark had the system to explain things but the known eggs were also listed.
"Hello there students! As the head of this building, I wish to begin the auction a little early today! Have your bidding crystals ready along with your money!" the announcement from professor Erin. "We will begin with the common eggs, then rise in rarity. Last but not least we will sell off the mystery eggs that were found in the wilds!"
Clark had his answer to the section of eggs he had seen on the other side. He could barely see them making it hard to evaluate them with the system. But they were close enough for him to begin to gather information. As soon as he got a good look, he knew what he would bid on. He knew what beast he would raise with Devi.
The noise of the weaker students bidding on the common beasts was easy to ignore. Many didn't have any issue with them since they weren't worth raising. But as soon as the thick tailed alligator egg was brought up, many silent bids went in. These were bids from students looking to get another beast to defend them in their studies and lives.
The silent glares from bidders were enough for some people to give up. The foolish bidders that shouted out were quickly pushed in to silence by those with money or power. "So even scum made its way in to the academy. Hopefully, they can learn a lesson before they become true trash."
Just because these people used money and power to get what they wanted didn't mean that Clark had to deal with them. They had a chance to learn and change their ways throughout their academic lifetime. They weren't a lost cause just yet.
"Now for the main event that everyone loves! The mystery eggs will start at the usual price, five silver! Good luck!" Professor Erin had grown to love these sales the most. Students were willing to gamble a lot of gold on the mystery beast eggs without any idea of what they might be.
"And remember, the stone golem egg that was trained by professor Stern was bought from one such mystery egg." The stone golem had been raised by a professor in the academy, but it had still made waves. The stone golem was a super rare best that not many could see in life.
'Twin tailed scorpion- rare
The twin tailed scorpion is blessed to have two tails with different poisons. One paralyzes prey while the other can inject potent acid. The twin tailed scorpion can grow to the size of the average man while retaining minor intelligence. They are extremely useful for trapping beasts. They are often trained by bounty hunters…'
Clark was very tempted to take this beast. The twin tailed scorpion came with a very good potential. However, Clark saw that it was not a domineering monster. It was not one that would radically set him at the top of his class. He needed better and he had already seen it.
"Sold for a total of two gold and three silvers! Congratulations." Professor Erin was very happy with the sale. In the next three mystery eggs, he was able to recoup the cost of sending students out to get them.
Before the next egg was on stage, Clark was already prepared. He was going to bid on this one. "Starting at ten silver!" Professor Erin was already in the swing of things.
"One gold already!"
"One gold, three silver!"
"Two gold!"
Clark bit his cheek knowing that he was going to have to push for this. It was the best beast he had seen with the system and would be the best match for what he needed.
"Four gold! What a jump! Going once…twice…Sold! Congratulations!" Clark narrowed his eyes and pretended to be unhappy. But he had won exactly what he wanted.
"That was the last mystery egg for today. Moving on to the young beasts!" Professor Erin knew exactly who had won and wondered why Clark had chosen a mystery beast egg. It was a curious choice but one that he would keep an eye on.
Once at the front reception desk, Clark handed over the crystal while offering the card given by his mentor. The staff member procured the eggs and Clark held in to in his spatial ring. He had already read the details he needed from the system's evaluation.
'Dragon slime egg- legendary
The dragon slime egg is formed from dragon essence within a rotting dragon's bones. The marrow will form in to a slime that has a shell made from bones. They can lay dormant for many years before they hatch. They are extremely rare and can use many dragon skills with the benefit of a slime body that can change as it develops. The best method to hatch this slime dragon egg is to drop dragon blood on the shell…'
Clark read a little more about the potential ways to hatch this egg. But he knew that getting dragon blood was the best and safest way. He would need to find his mentor for help. It was perfect because he needed to give the card back to him anyway.
"Ready to leave already? Did you not get a beast egg yet? Too bad. Maybe tonight at the last auction of the day you can try. They will sell the rest. My friend got the thick tailed alligator. He is planning to raise it as a defender for the end of year tournament. I doubt he will win though." The student guide chatted constantly while Calrk thought through his next plans. He had a lot to prepare if he was going to raise both Devi and the slime dragon.
