"Blasphemy!" The marquis declared. "Who would abandon their luxurious lives in exchange for a house in your woods!? Why would anyone just abandon guaranteed food and shelter?"
Fair enough.
"You make a fair point." I agreed. "And we won't take in anyone who refuses to not be free. In that case- we'll make adequate arrangements."
Those arrangements being- nothing.
I didn't have time to worry about spineless mongrels.
A slave boy from the back of the party- a catboy slave- rose up- and somehow made it through the crowd; he was rather small. "You'd buy and set us free if we want to be?" He asked.
"Of course. You'll just have to help with building one house, not break the law, and that's it."
He stared back at his master. "Set me free-" Well, that was instant.
Lots of grinding.
Apparently, people loved to grind their teeth when they were unhappy.
