A round wolf and a Twin Tailed wolf.
Neither attacked me but just circled around me, cautious.
I guess seeing two of their kind get killed by me, made them wary.
Which was a good thing.
For them.
'So, what now?'
[…]
'Rondo?'
Yeah, no answer.
'This damn system!' Deep breaths… I was still calm- kind of.
Okay, I was anything but calm.
Bleeding, breathless- I was not calm!
My back burned and so did my lungs!
But that also meant- I was alive.
And I wanted to keep it that way.
Which was why- I held the sword tight with both hands.
A single round wolf was no big deal for me, even before this whole thing. It was just a typical wolf with a round head and red eyes- coal fur.
But a twin-tailed wolf was impossible. Let alone both of them at the same time…
And this particular Twin-tails was big- at least bigger than me- even on its four legs. Besides- that white fur suggested- it definitely was a higher breed. Was I somehow blessed with terrible luck with monsters or something?
How the hell was I supposed to beat those two alone?
'But that was the old me-'
I had new powers- new skills.
And I knew how revenge blast worked. So- so, I just had to wait till one of them attacked me…
The large one- the twin-tailed one growled and slowly backstepped.
Actually, both of them were backing up.
'Wait, you're actually afraid?'
Heh!
I didn't know why but a grin crept up my face.
Yeah, I was coughing blood, but those things were also coughing… miasma.
And they were basically poisoned- 'As long as I can stall-'
Or stay calm- I could win this.
"Rawr!" The puny lion went up to the large Wolf and just gave it leg a bite.
The roar? Awfully funny sounding.
'Holy… damn…'
GROWL!! "AWOO!" Distracted, the poor wolf started thrashing its paw around- the lion cub did not let go though.
Heh!
Swish!
"Nice going cat!"
I dashed forward- dodged the round wolf, giving it a solid kick, moving ever to closer to the other one, and sliced at the twin tails- beheading it at one go.
One slice- one kill.
[Exp gained: 2100!]
Lv up!
Swift motion- never thought I could move that fast.
Before the round wolf could get up- I ran to it, and punctured its skull.
[Exp gained: 455!]
Well- that was anticlimactic.
Panting- I stared around.
So far- no other monsters.
[Confirmed! Quest complete!]
[Exp gained: 1000]
[Level up!]
[Bonus rewards: Wine chant!]
A pink potion bottle dropped at my hand.
[New quest available!]
[Quest- Gather three Alma Nuts before noon!]
Singing.
This thing was singing.
In a horrible voice.
Sigh- at least that was over.
I looked around and there still wasn't anything else around.
No monsters- no birds.
The bats and vultures in the distance didn't bother coming yet, since I was still here with my sword.
Maw-waw….
'Cat?' I could swear- I heard a mew. Or at least some form of it.
But there weren't any cats here- oh- wait, the cub.
I didn't see it though.
Until- "MEWO!"
Oh-
It was under the twin-tail's headless corpse.
Was it a meow or a howl? I could not differentiate, no.
"You okay cat?" I lifted the corpse and pulled out the cat- or rather the lion cub. It was actually the size of a cat, rather white- rather bright. "Run home I guess?"
Blue eyes and a sharp glare.
Anyway, moving on, I started taking the fangs and claws of the monsters as well as their tails.
The meat was smelly- so I didn't need any.
The round wolves were common, so these weren't going to be that expensive. The twin-tailed one though was very expensive, as far as I knew. And its fur was said to be great for coats. But if I only brought rare materials to a store, they'd kind of get suspicious, given the fact that I wasn't affiliated with the Commercial Merchants, and kind of alone.
Actually, they'd still get suspicious of me though…
Heck, who cared! At this rate, why not start a company in my name!
'But I still have to think of a name first though…'
I drank one of the two potions before doing anything else though- cause the wounds were definitely stinging!
And-
Healed.
Fully!
Lv-7
HP- 139/139
MP- 00/21
EXP- 130/2150
How could I tell?
Because not only did my wounds disappear- I actually felt more powerful than before!
Really!
And I might or might not have just stared at the corner of my vision and saw the HP thing being full… Whenever I focused on those numbers- I could get a sense of how much life, magic, or whatever this was- I'd left.
Kind of weird-
But- I didn't let it all bother me.
After all- this whole thing was weird!
Cluck! Anyway- I started cutting, skinning, and butchering!
!!!
And with that, everything was done and I had to move on.
'Next Alma nuts?'
Rather common nuts.
I had this weird pointer thing next to the right corner of my vision. I didn't know how but somehow, I got the feeling, I could finish this quest if I headed that way?
But that meant I'd have to cross the border before noon, cause everything till the border was just barren lands anyway.
"Maw…"
The cat- kind of followed me, rubbing its head against my feet.
"Go back to your mother before I decide to eat you." I grabbed it, lifted it close to my face, and gave it a glare.
White lions were common in most parts of the world. They were easily considered one of the worst predators of this place- as in, they were the weakest, even compared to a round wolf- which meant this brat's mother was probably-
"Mew!" A slap!
A very powerful- fluffy slap.
It did not hurt no.
Just fluff.
Sigh- "You want to come along?"
"Mew!"
"I can eat you know."
They tasted terrible though.
"Mew!"
Yeah, who was I kidding, I didn't understand, felines.
The damn thing was sincere at least.
Anyway- I let it go and kept on walking.
Through my peripherals, I could tell-
It was certainly- still following me.
Mewing all the way.
