Chapter 47 - Unknown Sender

After their victory on the day before, JLNC had the whole day for themselves.

All of the members had their breakfast at 10 AM due to this reason as well, Dewy and Bright allowed them to sleep in as long as they do well in the training match after lunch.

"Good morning," Key greeted as she descended the stairs

"Good morning, Key," they greeted her back

"You just woke up?" Opal asked in surprise and Key nodded

"Have you guy eaten?" she asked

"Yeah, the delivery's on the counter," Alexei replied

Kami didn't have classes the day, or night on Key's side, before so Key talked to her until past 1 AM, Key's time.

If Kami didn't realize that it was already past midnight on Key's side, they might've talked until morning.

"I'm immortal, babe," Key said nonchalantly and chuckled

[Immortal or not, you have to sleep, Key-chan.] Kami replied from the other line of the video call

"Hmm, why should I?" Key asked her playfully

[So, your body and mind can recharge and you'll feel refreshed when you wake up.] Kami replied

"Alright, I will," Key said while smiling

[Good morn-night, Key-chan,] Kami said with a sweet smile that warmed Key's heart

"Good morn-night, Kami," Key replied but she didn't hang up

[You're not hanging up, Key-chan? I thought you said you'll go to sleep?] Kami asked her

"Hmm, can you tell me a story, babe?" she asked and Key immediately saw how Kami's eyes flickered in excitement and delight

[Okay, lie down, Key-chan, I'll tell you a story. I'll tell you about my latest story.] Kami said and Key lay down while wearing her earphones in both ears

She didn't know when the call ended because Kami's voice lulled her to sleep, it was something that Key always found peace in.

Her voice sounds like a lullaby, and Key can feel emotions, calming and soothing emotions, that give her a sense of warmth and easiness from her voice alone.

"Good morning," Key greeted as she arrived in the dining area where Dewy, El, Bright, and Rasheed are currently in

"What a surprise, I don't think I've ever seen you wake up later than us since you arrived." Dewy commented while drinking his cup of coffee

"Ah, I didn't notice the time while I was on a video call last night," Key replied and took her food from the counter

As usual, their breakfast is delivered from their fast food sponsor. By now, Key's already used to eating fast food take-outs for every single meal of the day, and she won't deny that she used to do it as well back when she was taking up law.

"Who are we competing against in the training match later?" Key asked Dewy while she is eating

"A team from the relegation faction of the International League," Dewy replied

"Do you know Palomas Negras?" Bright asked and Key's brows furrowed

"You mean Arcspai's National E-sport Champion three years ago?" Key asked

"Yeah, we'll be facing them later," El said

"They fell into the relegation? That's surprising." Key commented

Palomas Negras or Black Doves was Arcspai's National League Champion during Key's short stay in Madoriddo, she remembered how their fans would line up for hours outside the arena for their fan meet and greet events.

"Hmm, yeah, but they're getting back on their feet," Dewy said and Key continued eating

She was eating her breakfast when her phone vibrated, she received a message from someone unknown.

Thinking that it was one of the troublemakers, Key opened it and she composed herself to keep the expression on her face changing after reading the message.

Unknown: You should stop that hype-for-nothing propaganda of yours. You look pathetic.

She immediately pressed the button to capture a screenshot then sent the details to one of the troublemaker's accounts and TL replied immediately.

TL: What do you want me to do, mère-primogénitrice?

She quickly typed her reply; 'Find out who sent this, then give me their complete detail. ASAP.', before she placed her phone back on her table.

She continued eating and placed the matter at the back of her mind.

For someone like Key, threats like that are insignificant but for the safety of the people involved, she had to ask one of the troublemakers to investigate it.

After eating, she headed to the gaming area and sat on her gaming chair.

She opened her camera and started streaming.

It's another month meaning another air-time requirement to fulfill, and Key is, in a way, finding assurance in that monthly routine.

"Hello, good morning," Key smiled sweetly at the camera before she turned her eyes to the screen

"Rio, who are you banning?" Key asked Rio, who is currently her in-game teammate

"Maesta, how about you, who will you ban?" Rio replied after the other team banned Chikara

"Chasseur," Key said and Rio chuckled because she really banned Chasseur

"You hate Chasseur that much, Key?" Alexei, who heard their conversation, asked while chuckling

"Not really," Key replied in a jest and the opponent banned Laidir, finishing the banning part

When the shinigami selection began, Key chose Foschia immediately.

The opponent didn't ban Foschia so she was able to use her favorite shinigami in the practice game.

After appearing at their base at spawning, they began roaming the map to level up. Key stayed with Rio in the middle lane while their in-game teammates started roaming their respective lanes.

Their in-game top-laner is using Vis, the forward is using Luccicare, and their in-game support used Clypeus.

Key wanted a quick victory, but she decided to match up to Rio's gaming routine because he plays differently from El. First, they developed by preying on minions and they took their sweet time.

As soon as her Foschia leveled up, Key headed to the top lane used Extasasia and Quies simultaneously against the top-laner, and managed to get the first blood. This was her routine in the game so she immediately knew what to do next after killing the minion.

"Key, I'm going anti-jungle," Rio called out to Key after killing the opposing mid-laner

"On my way," Key replied and landed the final attack, finishing off the Kitsune

When they arrived at the Manticore's Den, Key stunned the Manticore and Rio began dealing damage to the creature.

"Oh, they need reinforcement in the bottom lane." Key muttered after she read the in-game message that her in-game teammate sent

"Alright," Rio said and continued using his skills to kill the manticore

Key headed to the bottom lane where she stunned the opposing off-laner, forward, and support.

There was a small-scale team fight in the bottom lane against the opponent's forward; Bellum, the opponent's support; Luxy, and the opposing off-laner; Fidens.

Their team overpowered the opposing team, and they began dealing with the opponent's defense tower in the bottom lane.

She headed back up to the top lane and destroyed the remaining enemy defense tower in the top lane.

"Rio, can you construct a team fight in the Hydra's lair? I'm heading there right now." Key said as she navigated her shinigami to the middle lane after killing the opposing mid-laner that had just resurrected

"I'll be your support," Key told Rio

"Thanks," Rio said as their team began to pace forward to the opponent's base

"Mondainai," Key replied, the Japanese translation of 'No problem'

Rio navigated his shinigami to the Hydra's Lair then sent a message to their in-game teammates to go to the Hydra's Lair.

In the Hydra's Lair, the battle was clearly in their favor because the battle was between Key, Rio, and their in-game support against the opposing top-laner and off-laner that had just resurrected.

They soon claimed the Hydra after finishing off the two opponents.

The only thing left was to destroy the opponent's Base Tower, and so they headed to the base where they began dealing with the final outer defense tower and the opposing top-laner and mid-laner that Key and Rio simultaneously took out.

Key and Rio dealt with the outer defense tower and the opposing mid-laner while their in-game teammates headed inside the base.

After losing half of her blood and reloading her Quies, Key used Foschia's second skill to deal damage against the opposing forward that resurrected and stayed to protect the final outer base.

With her half-blood remaining, Key's Foschia dealt the finishing damage. She was soon finished off after she received a combination of the newly resurrected opposing off-laner and opposing mid-laner's ultimate accompanied by the defense tower's hit that she didn't immediately see coming.

"I'll resurrect in fifteen seconds." This was Key's first resurrection in the game so her resurrection time is still short, and the fifteen-second resurrection time ended immediately, spawning her back into the map

She headed to the final defense tower and used her second skill to support Rio's first skill which immediately destroyed it before they helped their in-game teammates and won the game.
