Chapter 40 - She's A Mystery

At Hazel street downtown, Ryan arrived at an open bar as he successfully parked his powerbike at a corner and stopped the engines.

He had been searching for clues all day and needed to hydrate himself before continuing further on his mission.

The path was clear and less people strode around these parts which is one of the main reasons he likes coming here. He walked into the bar, avoiding all gazes as he reached for the counter and took a seat.

There was a man who seemed to be in his late 40s cleaning a champagne bottle while a waiter was dusting the wine glass.

"Just hit me with something refreshing so I gain my strength back, can't risk getting drunk." Was his words to the bartender as he dropped his money on the counter.

The bartender only chuckled softly and reached for a cocktail from the shelve.

"Ryan my boy, is it just me or do you look so pissed this afternoon?" The middle aged man asked as he mixed up a few drinks, keeping his inquisitive gaze locked on the young fellow who seemed unusually distracted today.

"Not really." He sighed, "I've not really been in so much of a good mood this past few days which is why I needed to clear my head so i can focus."

"When did you show up at Yu City and your mood has already deteriorated."

"That's why I hate this city." He sneered while hitting his fist on the counter, causing a loud bang that attracted a few attention but he wasn't bothered at all.

The bartender barely see's Ryan this moody though, has Yu City really been that rough?

"What happened?"

"I haven't found Adriks daughter yet, it's been two days and her powers aren't showing any sign or picking up any little effect."

His mind crossed to that helmet stealer he met earlier and his fist clenched remembering how stupid he was to fall for her smile.

"Most annoying part was, I ran into this girl who nearly got hit by my powerbike, I wanted to give her a few words to remember but she stepped on my foot and fled with my helmet, I had to ride without a helmet on my way here."

"Oof, just by a new one." The middle age bartender hinted, Ryan could get any helmet he wants, why's he so bothered about that helmet?

Ryan shook his head, refusing to get another helmet, that girl has no choice but to give him back his helmet.

"Noway, I'm going to get my helmet back, it's one of my favorite and I don't care if I have to take it by force!!"

"In that case refrain from using your power bike for the meantime, it's dangerous riding without a helmet." Said the bartender, wanting to show his concern which hopefully Ryan would adhere to.

His drink finally reached him and he took a sip of it.

"Forget that, my mission is to find Adriks daughter and not deal with some pesky human."

The middle aged bartender found Ryan's reaction to be quite funny, but since he's brushing the topic off, he'll just have to keep his thoughts to himself.

"Any clues?"

He shook his head. "Nah, her powers hasn't showed any effect yet making it difficult to find her. I'm still trying my best though, hopefully I might just sense her."

"Be careful, demons here aren't really friendly with your people."

"Neither are the Asteria's." He took another sip. "Don't worry about me, I'll be safe. I plan on keeping a low profile while I'm here, I'll probably head to your place tonight."

"You know where the keys are." He winked and a slow smile formed on Ryan's lips, the first smile he gave ever since he walked through that door.

From the back of the room, the backdoor opened slightly and a young lady stepped out with three to four bodyguards following her trail.

Ryan's blue eyes diverted to the lady but he couldn't see her face, just watched as she elegantly stepped out of the bar and he sensed a strange bizarre energy from her.

"Who's that?" He asked.

The bartender also stopped to see who Ryan was talking about.

"That's Xandria, one of my good customers." He added while Ryan's gaze never left her until her figure disappeared.

"She's a very famous actress and very beautiful too, she comes here just like you."

"Her aura felt weird, more of familiar." Ryan frowned at the feeling but was unable to wrap his fingers around it.

"I know, she's not the type anyone would try to pick a fight with, also because many people get frightened just by hearing the name of her brother, they're mystery."

He laughed the thought away and continued from where he stopped while Ryan was left to ponder on the weird feeling.

She's a mystery indeed.
