The night had grown late by the time Amon and Lilith finally settled into the living room, the soft glow of the fireplace casting flickering shadows across the walls. The warmth of the day still lingered between them, and neither of them seemed in any hurry to let the moment end.
Amon stretched his legs out, his back resting against the couch, while Lilith curled up beside him, her head resting on his shoulder. She was content, the weight of their responsibilities temporarily lifted, and for the first time in what felt like forever, she could breathe easily.
"Alright," Amon said, breaking the comfortable silence. "Confession time."
Lilith raised an eyebrow, glancing up at him with a playful smirk. "Confession time? What are we, teenagers at a sleepover?"
