Chapter 36 - An Aim For Trust

She slammed on the door repetitively as she cried for help, her voice echoed inside the room but it was barely heard on the outside.

She struggled but she concluded that no one would come to her aid. She rested her back against the wall as she slowly slid down and sat. She crumpled herself and hugged her knees as tears started to form in her eyelids.

Outside as the laughter of the seniors still echoed in the open, the rain which had stopped already had made those muddy puddles in the tracking field and the sun setting was as beautiful as a sight to see.

"I bet she'd be tearing up by now…" laughter followed.

"Serves her right, being such a nuisance irks me, she should've rested with her mom."

A silent senior drinks her beer as she spoke austere, "That isn't supposed to be something to joke about, Gwenne…." she paused.

The others were silent as they were a bit nervous.

"But it's still funny!" the same senior exclaimed, continuing the sentence she had cut off.

"Girl, you scared me!"

"Indeed, I knew what I did."

They howled, laughing continuously. Avyanna desperately cried inside the empty room, questioning how this could happen to her?

'I…shouldn't have trusted them…" she thought as she regretted it.

"How naive of me…" she sighed as she whispered to herself. She stood up as she was reminded that inside her bag was her phone. As she brightened to find hope, she immediately dialed Margaret, and yet after a few missed calls, she still did not pick up.

She dialed for the driver, she dialed for anyone she can think of at home, and alas, no one is there to even pick up her call. What can she do now? She's hopeless as she thought she believed she was.

But, right, she remembered, her only hope. She dialed a number once again. Trying and trying and trying until someone on the other line picks up.

After a couple of tries, the call was answered.

"Father…" she said, emotions made her voice crack, it was delight, excitement, nervous and she was hoping.

But before she could hear the voice of a worried father, she heard an angered tone on the tip of his tongue.

["What?? Can't you see I am working? Can't you understand that U have work and can't be bothered? Go dial the servants at home and don't call me!"] he yelled.

Frustration filled her eyes as the tears she tried so hard to stop from falling immediately slipped off from her eyes, rushing and racing down to her cheeks.

It edged on her chin as it plummeted down on the ground and her cries were yet so silent but sounded so hurt.

"I wonder what that rich girl is doing there by now…" said a senior who had already drank her third beer. Behind them seated, crossed-legged, Sunny was. She was holding a cigarette in between her middle and pointing her fingers as she smoked.

"Probably, crying." she snickered.

"Indeed," a senior nodded.

"Why do you even do this to her, Sunny?" a blonde woman with baby blue eyes stepped forward toward Sunny.

"Simple, she pisses me off…" Sunny instantly replied with a smug on her face.

"But aren't you friends?"

"Who said I am? I am on for her for the money her father possesses, that wench is loaded. I need her trust. That's why I have to do this, the more she trusts me, the easier she gets manipulated." she snickered.

The seniors looked at each other with strange gazes they gave themselves.

"Then, would you just let her get stuck there?"

"Of course not, I'll take a little more time, I'll come there and approach as if I am on the rescue. I'll be innocent, and as gullible as she is, certainly, she will believe it," she said confidently.

"I couldn't agree more." They laughed together.

Lonesome inside the room that is starting to get dark, the sun slowly almost has left and as the windows were sealed with wooden planks, only the tiny holes from the gap between the wooden planks were the ways the light can pass through.

She sat by the corner and hugged her knees to comfort herself. 'There's no way I'll get out of here quickly.' she thought.

Her face, which was extremely saddened, immediately worsened.

The lonely room only voices the blowing of the wind. It was dead silent and her whimpers were voiceless. She slowly wiped the tears off her face as she bowed he read low causing her hair to fall from her ears down to hide her countenance that had been ruined by all the crying.

Yet as she heard the loud thumping of footsteps outside, she immediately raised from the floor where she was seated and went for the door.

'There will be hope…." she told herself.

She slammed on the door many times and shouted for help at the top of her lungs. "Help! Help! I'm stuck here, help!" she called.

From the outside, the footsteps stopped in front and slowly as she felt approached the door. She pressed her ear against the door to try to listen for any sign of presence. Sooner then she heard the doorknobs clicking as it slightly shakes. She brightened up and knew she'll be fine now. As the door opened, an anxious face met her.

She fell to the floor as the door opened, her eyes in tragedy yet in delight as tears slowly once again formed big tears.

"Avyanna!" Sunny shouted by surprise. "What are you doing here??"

Avyanna was speechless, her eyes started to get blurry. She raced towards Sunny and immediately ran to embrace her as she cried, "Thank you, thank you!" She said nonstop.

Her delight was obvious as she gripped her tightly, but as she had weakened after her body reacted with too much struggling, crying, and hurting earlier, she fainted on her arms. Sunny snickered as she whispered, "Your uses are well appreciated, Avyanna."
