Chereads / Bride of Thaddeus / Chapter 5 - Anthropophobic

Chapter 5 - Anthropophobic

'Shit! I got caught.'

Narcester smirked, "Morning, princess." She looked at him, it was a cold expression she threw off. "Yeah, right."

She walked away and went to the kitchen, Narcester followed her behind. On the dining table, there was a plate of various foods laying in the table. On the same side, the schnitzel was served, best of yet, her eyes glimmered to see the anchovies and capers.

Avyanna seated and dug in, enjoying the food that was served.

Upon noticing other variants of food on the table, Narcester ignored them all and only ate saganaki.

Breakfast was finished, Avyanna was stuffed, and she quite enjoyed the household she was in even though it had an unlively aura, a little fix from here and there would make it a "home".

A tall man in a suit appeared out of wherever he greeted "good morning" to the newlyweds and started to give his service.

"I am Myrto Dimitris Logo, the butler of the mansion, pleased to meet you, Mrs. Thaddeus." he politely spoke.

"Pleased to meet you," she replied.

Narcester looked at both and spoke, interpolating his words with a sinister chuckle, "You get along, don't you?"

Myrto beamed, Avyanna scratched her nape with a gauche expression on her face. The butler was helping his master's preparations for going to work, Avyanna can't seem to find anything to do as she felt boredom strike her sitting on the couch.

He was staring at his reflection in the mirror, tying his necktie when Avyanna decided to send him luck.

"W-Well, good luck on your work." she stammered by the greeting she cast.

"What do you mean good luck?" he asked, confused.

"Isn't that what wives say to their husbands when they leave for work?"

Narcester looked at her."That's 'when they leave for work', who said you're not coming?"

Avyanna was confused. 'Why would he want me to come?' She tried finding an excuse to not go, she wouldn't be able to find something that could lead her to stray from boredom there also.

"But, I'm not dressed yet."

He raised his brows and answered, "Then you should get dressed, simple as that."

"But you would be late..."

Narcester looked her deep in the eyes, it was the looming brown eyes that felt like eyeing on her soul. He replied afterward, "I own the company, whereas, if I, the owner is late, it doesn't affect me."

Avyanna knew she couldn't get herself excused anymore. He looked at him with wonder, why was it that she needed to come anyway? It's not like she's employed there, she's unemployed as far as she could remember, she just graduated business class, right after, her father decided on the whole marriage thing.

He gazed at her, noticing her looks at him. He softly chuckled and approached her, looking down on her. "Wives are supposed to be flaunted like pieces of jewelry, the reason for that is that they're their husband's treasure."

"We barely knew of each other, how can I be your treasure?"

He sighed, "You're part of the Thaddeus family now, which means you'll be a shareholder of the company. That's a custom. Isn't that reason enough to bring you to work?"

She blinked twice and nodded, "Oh, so that's what." She climbed the stairs and dressed as she was told.

She wore a lime-colored suit and a pencil skirt, a pair of black heels, and a few accessories on her hair. She looked quite professional for an unemployed person. She went back downstairs, as soon as a full view of her look was uncovered, Narcester's eyes perambulated upon her.

He gauchely tried to hide his feeling and intervened in her smile with a light cough. "You look fine," he said, denying the fact that she looked more than fine.

Myrto opened the door to the back seat and assisted Avyanna in getting in the car by giving support to her waist. Narcester coughed pretentiously, he caught Myrto's attention, seeing how he slowly threatened him with a sinister smile.

Myrto backed away and stood up, Narcester beamed and tapped his shoulder, and went in the car as soon as Avyanna did.

Like before, the ride was silent. It felt a little unfamiliar for Avyanna, the silence never really had a chance to approach her. The Klein Mansion was filled with all chatters, murmurs, and noises that come in addition, making the household lively.

The car pulled over to an underground parking lot under a building structure. Myrto went out of the car and opened the door for them. He escorted both inside the building.

As soon as the staff saw Avyanna accompanied by none other than their boss, Narcester. It all came to them that this woman, in their presence is the woman their CEO married.

Their eyes perambulated on her, cold chills gave Avyanna nervous, she doesn't like being watched. It would always give her a scare as if she felt the breeze colder and they were ready for throwing off judgment on her. She can't always get away from the gossip but still, she can't get used to it.

"Isn't that...Lanxter Klein's daughter?"

"She's the heiress, right?"

"I didn't know that they have a relationship."

"Mr. Thaddeus is secretive."

"She's kinda pretty."

"They're very compatible."

The whispers of gossip rung inside her ear and made her fidgety. She started snapping her fingers as anxiety arises.

The snaps became significantly louder than before, she started to breathe heavily afterward. Narcester turned to glance at her, hearing how her consecutive breathing became louder and louder and snaps echoed across the building.

A few were raising their phones high to film the moment and at least capture a photo or two.

Narcester saw her trembling knees start shaking whilst walking, she started to limp as she felt her knees weaken. It's always usual to hear gossip but judgment, the crowd, and the watching eyes of people would always make her waver.

Since childhood, as far as she could remember, Avyanna has always been anthropophilic or afraid of the crowd which is most likely known as a social anxiety disorder.

Narcester wrapped his arms around her shoulders, he softly whispered, "Lean on me, I'll get you away from the crowd."

She faintly nodded, mobile cameras came flashing simultaneously after seeing such a scene, pretty unusual for Narcester Thaddeus to act very caring for someone. It would be a great flavor of tea for the media's tea party.

Narcester looked at Myrto and signed him to prepare his office for Avyanna to rest in. He started to scurry to Narcester's office and make the preparations. Avyanna was trembling but warmth coated her body by the other she leaned on to.

'You're doing great. Suppress. Suppress. Suppress.'

She strengthened her mentality, telling herself to not collapse. Narcester supported her as he stagger to the corridors. Myrto went back after finishing his task and helped Narcester with her.

Narcester's eyes displayed panic yet he was staying calm. Once they reached his office, Myrto laid Avyanna down on a bed in a tiny receiving area inside Narcester's office. She was panting, breathing for the ear with continuous motion.

Narcester came to her and seated beside her.

Noticing how Avyanna is still in a panic, he tapped her hands and ran his fingers in her hair, caressing it. Avyanna calmed down finally and slept when Narcester started to him a melody.

Avyanna's face relaxed upon hearing the humming that came out from Narcester's vocal as if an angel decided to sing for her. Soothing her very well and calming her panic, she fell asleep peacefully.

Narcester sighed and looked at her. He caressed her face and spoke softly in a sweet tone.

"Sleep tight, little Avie..."
