Chereads / Bride of Thaddeus / Chapter 3 - Mrs. Thaddeus

Chapter 3 - Mrs. Thaddeus

As of to that moment and to the days that follow she would be Avyanna Thaddeus. Everyone howled cheers of happiness and the party followed on as it was held in the Klein Mansion.

Glasses were held up high, and continuous praises for the newlyweds kept bursting out of the air. Avyanna didn't like the crowd, not even how Narcester is sitting right beside her at the moment. She wanted to crawl out of the party, out of the reach of a person's gaze, and just pick her phone up scrolling through.

"Such lovely daughter you are, Avyanna. A good generation will come out of this vows." one commended her.

"I-It's a pleasure," she replied, hesitantly.

"Mr. Thaddeus, it's a pleasure to see you finally wedded, a beautiful woman at that."

"Couldn't thank you more, Mr. Schmidt," he replied and shook the guests' hands.

Commends kept continuing as if forever, both were exhausted handling the guests, conversations went on and on consecutively.

She became fidgety, her annoyance became obvious as shown in the expression she wore.

Narcester gently tapped her knees and whispered, "You can leave, I'll take care of the crowd."

Avyanna's eyes brightened, she couldn't believe it. She thought, no, she heard that Narcester Thaddeus is an unbearable person, simply notorious for lack of consideration and cold-hearted at many times. Spoken, if Narcester Thaddeus is a hotel he would be a 1-star hotel or be not rated at all.

'What sick game is he playing? One who was forced into marriage and didn't like it won't act 'oh-so kind' to his wife he barely knew about.'

And so, she kept her thoughts inside and nodded slowly. She stood up and was about to leave when Narcester halted her as his voice rung to her ears.

"I'll pick you up later, Mrs. Thaddeus." he grinned.

"Y-Yeah..." she stammered. She's confused now, 'What is he even up to now?'

She walked away, out from the center of the drama. She breathed heavily and sent out a heavy sigh, finally out from the noisy crowd. She sneaked out from the party, regardless of knowing what her father might do, she took into account that she won't be in his household anymore — well, not at least in three years.

She sneaked inside the mansion to the living room, she sighed with relief and chuckled softly. Crawling low to avoid getting caught, she grabbed her phone from a table and rushed back to the living room.

She took off her heels struggling, "This hella friggin' heel hurts my feet for Pete's sake, father!"

And as soon as she completed her agenda, she tossed it on the floor and soothed herself after.

She went her way out the window and approached the shore that faced the side of the mansion. Her feet touched the sand that soothed her feet that had been numbing from wearing such high heels.

The cold breeze of the night reached out to her skin, the rush of the waves that hit the shore was loud like thunders that clash in the storms. But this is the peace she knew, away from the ruckus, the exposure from the media as an 'heiress', the pressure as the first and only child, and the role she is now to carry — a wife.

She inhaled the fresh air, it seemed to smell salty but it was refreshing, it was relaxation.

She pulled off her phone and opened it. The cold breeze from the seas, soft, white sand, and a phone in their hand scrolling freely into it, was the kind of relaxation Avyanna would like to feel now and then.

Scrolling through her phone, she noticed the rapid amount of news that came in after the knowledge of an abrupt wedding that was held between none other than them. It was like the media is in panic.

She scoffed as she told herself, "They must think how did a calloused, unsympathetic and truly annoying man get to marry? One at that, he was pretty famous himself."

She continued to scroll down and browse to every news about them, as she clicked on another, comment down below angered her so.

[FelicityV: This girl dared to even be marrying the great Narcester Thaddeus. I reckon this one is just a business marriage, what a bunch of trash. The strings the Klein family is pulling just to save them out of the swamps of bankruptcy are outrageous!]

It was truthful but she is annoyed, this person does not know the situation that well. It isn't easy for her, to marry, that is, it all came as a sudden decision, and pressure is cornering her, she was doing the dirty work to save the fallen company.

"This girl dared to get me out of my mood!" she groaned.

But a certain comment approach after, replying to the other.

[Anonymous: Get the fuck off other people's businesses!]

She felt a light sensation that came forward as that one comment soothed her. The comment came from an anonymous person, whoever it was, she felt as if the most beautiful flower bloomed in front of her.

She continued the smile that she brightened up, it was nice to have someone defend anything or even stop her when she's about to burst into anger, no one stood up for her, at most.

In the gates that lead to the seashore, Narcester smiled with satisfaction as he saw that cute, wonderful smile Avyanna is wearing. He slowly walked away and went back to where the party is, hoping to not ruin her mood.

Avyanna felt as if someone was watching upon her, glued eyes that stalks her, she looked back but none was there, clearly, she thought it was just the breeze afterward.

A few moments later, Avyanna went back to the event. Her father's eyes widened as soon as he saw her and grabbed her by her wrists.

"Dad..." she calmly spoke, suppressing the pain she felt from that tight grip.

"Where have you been, Avyanna? You are the bride, you should've been attentive. Think of your responsibilities for once." he reprimanded her through rough whispers.

"I was just breathing for fresh air..." she replied.

His grip got tighter, "Breathing some fresh air? Do you even have time for that? Come on, Avyanna be responsible for once."

"Dad, you're pressuring me..."

He was angered, he gripped tighter it hurts more now, she can't just keep the pain to herself, could she? Narcester came forward and spoke for her defense then.

"What are you doing to my wife?"

He looked at Narcester as he replied with a voice that cracks with anger, "She's my daughter, I have every right to reprimand her."

Narcester looked stern, his silence felt like a grappling hook that will hold one's neck till it chokes as it fears.

"She's my wife, take your hands off her," he spoke austerely.

"She's my daughter still," he replied.

"Once marriage is sealed by law, the bride carries the groom's name, whereas her priority is to be a wife and not a daughter for it follows the name she carries after. Now take your ugly, old hands of my wife."

Then there it goes again, the stern voice that could run sweat off your skin. It was annoying how he could give on a scare after just a few looks from his eyes.

Lanxter took his hands off Avyanna, scared of what decision Narcester would come up with — supposedly he would not help him anymore, he thought. "I'm sorry, Mr. Thaddeus," he said.

He looked at his daughter hesitatingly and shot a dirty look, "I-I'm sorry...Mrs. Thaddeus." he hesitated.

Narcester grabbed Avyanna by her hand and went up in the middle of the crowd. Narcester abruptly took the microphone from the host and spoke, "Hey, everyone." he greeted.

The eyes of those who watch upon them have been blessed by such fine being, he continued to talk, fluttering Avyanna with embarrassments.

"It's getting late and I and my wife need some rest. I hope you don't mind us leaving first."

Avyanna can't seem to process it. 'What's wrong with him? Last time on our approach, he was in a hurry, more so, he was rude. What's with the sudden change now? Publicity stunt perhaps?'

The guests cheered as they walked out of the mansion. A black, Maserati pulled over as the driver opened the door to the back seat. Avyanna entered and Narcester followed, he ordered the driver to drop them off at his house as the driver followed his instructions.

The silence inside was extremely awkward, it was as if a voice could contaminate the air as the atmosphere runs cold. Avyanna couldn't bring herself to talk, she never liked approaching people, rather, she would like to be approached.

The busy beeping of streets was ringing through her ears, it was annoying — the sounds and ruckus of the city were extremely annoying for her.

The drizzle came dropping down the ground, it made the car window blurry, enabling them to look through the windows and watch the busy streets. The coldness from the air conditioner irritated her skin as she softly sighed.

A chuckle was heard afterward as it breaks the cold silence inside, the driver was astounded and was pretty unusual. It's as if he had only seen Narcester give a good giggle over something.

He looked at her and grinned softly, "I have so much to learn about you, Mrs. Thaddeus."
