Last night, she made sure to be vigilant, but what happened? Why did she have to wake to find a man in her bed?!
She jumped away to the edge of the bed and turned fiercely to look at the man. Using one hand to protect her chest, she cupped her other fist and entered Karate mode. She parted her lips and raised her head to look at the man...
The moment her gaze fell on his face, her heart stopped for a split second. It felt as if an electric current zapped through her veins hitting her heart hard! Her lips parted but she forgot the skill of speech making!
The man was nothing like she had thought, he was nothing like she expected and was nothing like the rumors say! Where was the crippled ugly old man that everyone described? Where was the yellowish pale-skinned vampire with scabs? Did they not that he was a monster with a horn? But why was the man laying on the bed so different? So different from the rumors she had heard.
She sucked on her breath with a thumping heart and took in his appearance. His face was chiseled and smooth with a perfect angular jawline. His hair was black, sleek, and shiny, it makes one want to run their fingers through it. His brows were naturally carved with sharp edges like that of a sword, his lashes were black and long, and they made her jealous. His nose, his lips, his neck... He was an epitome of a good-looking man, an idea of a man that fulfilled a lady's fantasies. He practically swept her off her feet!
She was so engrossed in staring at him that she did not realize the trail of drool dripping at the corner of her parted lips. She had seen a fair share of handsome men in school and model magazines but his handsomeness was one of a kind, so awe-inspiring with a hint of seduction.
"Wife, with your eyes glittering so much with hunger and your mouth watering, should I take it as you want to eat your husband up? Because I am very willing to be eaten up by you my dear little wife" the man uttered and snapped a finger before her eyes.
Lena snapped out of her daze and sat up, she wiped the drool on her face vigorously. She wanted to be mad at herself for being so careless before the unknown man but the moment she stole a glance at him, her face burned and became hot.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my bed?!" she managed to squeeze the words out of her throat and under the guise of glaring at him, she sneak-peeked at the man. Such a fine man... she thought. Hmph! What are you thinking about!
"My dear wife, your husband has every right to be in your bed, did you forget something?" he stated and a chuckle rumbled out of his chest. Lena looked at him, the deep sound of his laughter was captivating, she blinked and snapped out of it. She glared at the man and suspected him to be using the act of seduction on her.
"Yes, I got married but rumor has it that my husband is a monster. He did not even attend his own wedding so how can my husband me you? A monster isn't good-looking. I believe my husband is a black-hearted hideous monster who is so ashamed to show his ugly face at his wedding!" She spat.
After speaking, she was stunned at herself and wondered where her courage came from. Shouldn't she be nervous and anxious? What if he was like the rumors said, perhaps he was still a monster in his good-looking skin. What would she do if he attacks her? These thoughts crossed her mind but surprisingly, instead of anxiety and discomfort, his presence gave her the feeling of safety.
The man's eyes darkened momentarily, the words she spoke to him hit him hard and it hurts. Was he wrong by marrying her? She might not understand yet but he would not want to be what the rumor says to her. For the first time, he felt a sense of pain and panic.
"Your husband must be really bad," he uttered and a sad smile curled up on his handsome face. Her heart trembled when she saw his pained expression. Shouldn't he tie her to the bedpost and thrash her for her mistakes? Shouldn't he use duct tape to seal her mouth? Instead of these things, why does it feel as if she could see pain and sadness swirling in his dark orbs? His solemn expression made her heart ache. This is not the scene she had in mind at all, it is all wrong!
"Y-yes, he is really bad..." she stuttered unable to meet his eyes anymore, and added, "that is what everyone says".
" Alexandro, that is your husband's name," he asserted and stood up from the bed. She was watching him with her eyes following his every move but what she did not expect to see was that...
Alexandro suddenly tugged at his robe and It slid down from his body. His body was bare down to his torso. His arms were thick and muscular, his chest was indecently manly with the roll of six-pack that trailed down to the sexy v-line. Lena gulped and nearly suffered a nosebleed. Her face was so red that it dripped blood.
"Y-you! What do you think you are doing!" She yelled, her palm flew to her face and she covered her eyes. Her brain felt fried from his intentional seduction.
"Undressing, in an attempt to have a bath," he explained honestly but the corner of his lips rose.
"I don't care, go away this instant!" She fumed, her hand still covering her face strictly. Alexandro felt humored by her action, he wanted to tease her very much but he stopped himself. If he teased her in excess, she might end up getting farther from him. He wanted her to bring herself close to him so he had to respect her boundaries.
"I am leaving, you can open your eyes now, little wife" he voiced before stepping out of the room.
Lena peeked out of the web of her fingers with an eye, seeing that no one was In the room, she removed her hand and opened her eyes. She heaved a sigh of relief. Then she got out of the bed and checked the time on her phone, it was past noon already. She was astonished that she slept for that long and that deep. It was the first time that such happened to her.
She sighed and touched the pendant on her neck. Just like that, she had stepped into a new life and a new world. In a twinkle of an eye, she suddenly married. Even till that moment, she found it had to believe but it was real. She could not run away from the marriage but she looked it will not crush her either.
"Alexandro... Alex..." she played the name on her tongue like a melodious tune. That was her husband's name, his breathtaking face, his patient eyes... He was everything that she never thought he would be. In the damned marriage that she was sold into, she wished for nothing at first but after meeting him, she felt his handsomeness was a bonus to her ordinary life. Even still, she did not expect the marriage to bear love. It would be better if they lived at arm's length.
Lena walked out of the room and entered the bathroom, she took her bath quickly, returned to the room, and changes into a simple beige short gown. She brushed her chestnut-colored hair leaving it to fall to her waistline. Her face was small and pretty, she was nothing like a married woman. She looked at her finger, there was not even a ring. What a useless marriage! She thought but the thought quickly disappeared as soon as it came.
She checked herself in the mirror for the last time, took a deep breath, and patted her chest. "Lena, you are not only married now, but you are no longer who you used to be. You are not that girl that could be stepped in anymore, between you and those people, there is no more bond. You have to grow and take charge of the fate, nothing should stop you!" The words of encouragement echoed in her heart and she looked determined.
In this game, whether she loses or wins, is left to her to decide. She felt revived and strengthened. She stood up and walked towards the door, she held the doorknob and her fingers tightened around it slightly before she pushed the door open. It was time to see what the lonesome castle has in store for her, it was time to face her reality.
Damned marriage to a good-looking monster, here I come!
