Chapter 12 - The silver hair stranger

Sumire searched in her mind if this person was one of the targets or if it was anybody dangerous, but nothing came to her. He must be a normal civilian, after all. But, after staining her hands with blood, she was cautious.

'I just killed somebody and had everybody in that casino arrested.' Most of the people attending that place are dangerous. Calm down; there will surely be normal people mixed in. But, those normal people should be down at the police station answering questions.

"Hmm? Who am I?" He brought his lips towards her ear. "Just a guy who was searching for a nice time, but I couldn't find anybody suitable. How about it miss?"

Is it because it is dark, he probably can't tell that she is young? Then again, she managed to get into the bar with a fake id. He probably thinks she is older.

This is not the first time she has ended up in a situation like this. It was easy for her to shrug the other ones away because the guys were actually drunk. But she could tell that this person wasn't.

"I-" Her sentence fell short when she felt a swelling pain on her right side.

Did moving around so much cause her wound to open? Sumire briefly glanced down and saw a red patch, confirming her thoughts.

Her thoughts broke off when she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.

"It's her! It's that woman; get her." A familiar shrill-sounding voice caught her attention.

'So they ran away to get reinforcements?' This is problematic. Normally it would be easy to evade people like this, but not in her current state.

The guy suddenly draped his coat over her, hiding her face to her surprise. Oh?

"Stay quiet."

Sumire slowly nodded her head.

"What seems to be the problem, gentlemen?" Toh addressed the group that appeared before them.

"It's no business of yours; we just want that woman behind you."

"Are you sure you have the right person? This is my girlfriend."

One of the men scoffed. "Sir, even if you want to play the hero who saves the beauty, shouldn't you rethink who you're saving?"

"Oh?"

"That woman is the Queen of the underworld. She will slit your throat if you sleep with her."

"Hmm, that sounds interesting, but I truly think you have the wrong person. But my dear over here can't harm a fly."

Sumire cringed at the guy's words. Even if he is doing this to help her out, does he have to sound so cheesy? Unfortunately, with her wound reopening like this and that leg injury from the morning, Sumire was not confident that she could get away.

'I don't know why he is helping me, but I should go with the flow.'

She hesitantly wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his arms.

"You see, you scared the poor little thing." Toh chuckled.

He seemed pleased with her act, and she made a mental note to at least step on his foot later on. It seemed this little act caused a seed of doubt in the enemy's minds since they voiced their confusion.

"Hey, hey, is that really her?"

"Hmmm, I'm not sure now-"

"I stabbed her, so she ought to be injured."

Oh, shoot, she can't hide her wound since it has reopened.

To her surprise, however, the guy continued to speak.

"If you're talking about blood, she is bleeding. But," He chuckled. "-only because we just finished having a good time."

"Hey, this guy, I recognize him."

"Isn't he Toh?"

"It seems you finally understand."

After a few more exchanges, the guys quickly scoured away. She pulled away from him the moment they did, only to find herself crouching down on the sidewalk moments later.

This is bad; they caught her off guard earlier when she was leaving. Otherwise, they would not have managed to injure her. How careless of her to let people of that level hurt her.

She crouched in pain for a few minutes only to realize that the Toh guy was still there. "So, hey, you're hurt, right?"

"What is it to you?" Sumire snapped.

She feels so sick; the wound is making her dizzy too.

"My place is nearby. I'll treat that wound for you."

"Has anyone ever told you, mister, not to pick up random women on the streets?"

"I was told not to follow strangers to their homes," Toh trailed off. "Do you have a choice?"

He is right about that. She could call somebody to pick her up, but it will take awhile before she arrives. She will pass out due to blood loss before then.

"Alright."

He wasn't lying when he said he lived nearby. It took less than ten minutes before they pulled up in front of a fancy-looking building.

'At the very least, he must have some type of career to have a house like this- it could be worse.' Sumire tried to get out of the car, but she felt like she would pass out any minute. To her surprise, he suddenly carried her.

"Hey, wait, I can-" Sumire paused when she felt a pounding sensation appear in her head.

"You are very stubborn. I'm already doing this much for you. Shouldn't you just accept the rest of my kindness?"

How shameless, wasn't he trying to make a move on her earlier? Sumire sighed deeply. She ought to just cope with it.

Toh carried her into the house. It surprised her how he managed to open his door and the lights despite carrying her. He must have done this a lot. He placed her down on the couch.

"Lay down for awhile; I'll find the medical supplies."

"Okay."

Sumire watched as he disappeared behind some doors, and she exhaled deeply. What on earth is she doing getting herself into this type of situation? Asahi must be worried about her. She pulled her phone out only to see a black screen and a huge red battery symbol.

'No battery, and I am sure I left my purse with Asahi.' This is just great. Can her day get any worse?

This guy isn't a good guy; he has experience picking up random women. This could potentially get very dangerous for her. If he patches up the wound and tries anything else, she could punch him after recovering her strength and then bolt.

Right, that is what she will do. It should be fine; even if she is this injured, it will not be hard to escape.

Sumire extended her arm up towards the ceiling. How careless of her to get injured like that. It is unlike her to make such a careless mistake. Ru would say something like, 'all humans make mistakes.' But for her, a mistake like this is fatal.

There is no doubt that person who managed to injure her will go around telling people that her reputation is a lie or something.

She wouldn't have minded if people mistook her as a weakling in the past, but with her so-called debut approaching.

'I do not want random people to attack me.'

Back when people underestimated her, loads of people attacked her daily. But after a few fights, they stopped doing so. Now nobody is stupid is enough to charge at her without a plan.

Hopefully, the people she has beaten up in the past will step forward and persuade those other ones. But half the people who belong to an underworld organization have no brains; they are all brawl.

'I have to keep it under control; otherwise, I will be troubling the president and everyone.'

She felt her consciousness drop and found herself dozing off.
