Skylar sat on a chair on the porch, waiting and hoping. His eyes scanned the yard of the house, not much had changed since he left it these few years. Only the fence paint was slightly peeled off and the loss of his mother's beloved flowers. Skylar smiled wryly as he remembered it. The days they passed before, like a dream that felt real but turned out to be a part hallucination.
How Neil and Skylar's lives are toyed with for what he takes for granted. And those moments of that moment all changed, happiness snatched away from him. Days passed with his gray life and were pressed to create colors that Skylar knew he couldn't afford.
Then the distance reunited, attracting Skylar's hopes that he thought had disappeared. But once again the universe is playing with him. Neil forgot about it, like their happy days never happened. And Skylar is just a stranger to Neil.
Skylar sighed as he looked up knowing the day was beginning to darken, as the roar of the car approached. Skylar's heart began to beat rapidly, as someone got out of the car walking opened through the gate. But his activity stopped as he looked toward Skylar.
The two of them stared at each other. Was coming here a mistake? Skylar was silent, he didn't know what to do. Skylar missed this person, however, he treated Skylar and his brother. Skylar closed his eyes slowly preparing to receive anger.
Their awkwardness broke suddenly as Skylar felt a warm feeling wrapped around his body. Skylar's tears spilled instantly, if it's honest Skylar was convinced that his father didn't hate them there must have been something else going on that Skylar didn't know about. Skylar just hated the circumstances that made him blame his father. "Dad?"
"Haven't seen each other in a long time. I miss you so much, Skylar." His father, Raihan. Took off his embrace and looked at Skylar with teary eyes. Skylar wanted to answer that he also missed his father, but that wasn't what he was here for.
"Which brother's father?" asked Skylar. Since then he has continued to hope that Neil is with Raihan.
"Neil should have come home. Maybe he's inside. Come on Skylar in." Raihan grabbed Skylar's shoulder to lead him in but was soon on edge with Skylar slowly.
"I know my brother doesn't remember me. He forgot me."
The angle of Raihan's lips dropped when he realized it. "Right."
"I'll see inside the house if you're home." Skylar stood impatiently, Skylar would be relieved when he saw his brother was fine. "Since the morning Big Brother disappeared at school."
Raihan's eyes widened dumbfounded. "What? At school? Are you a school?"
Skylar didn't understand his father's question. Didn't his father should have known, or was his father going to scold Skylar? "Yes."
Raihan's face hardened, he seemed to hold back his anger. "But your mother said you were out of town. I've been looking for you everywhere."
Skylar's mind becomes branched out he doesn't know what to trust his mother or his father. "Dad will. My brother could be inside."
Raihan wanted to protest but he immediately unlocked the door and they rushed in. As Skylar suspected inside the house not much had changed, it was just that photos of them were missing from the whitewashed walls. There are only abstract paintings attached to the walls.
Raihan and Skylar rushed upstairs to check on Neil. But when they opened the door to Neil's room there was no Neil there. In a panic, he called Neil to every corner of the house but there was no answer.
Skylar suggested calling Neil which they had to do since then. Raihan and Skylar waited for the connection to connect, but Neil did not reply. Not giving up, Raihan contacted Neil again this time Neil raised him and raised his voice, Neil sounded soft and looked tired making Skylar and Raihan worry about him.
Skylar's hand went coldly waiting for every second to hear the hum of Neil's voice at the other end.
"Hello, Dad. Why call. I'm at home." Raihan and Skylar were stunned to hear it they had just wandered around the house looking for Neil but the result was nil. Neil wasn't anywhere.
"Where? I was looking for Neil," asked his father impatiently. Staring back and forth between Skylar and his phone.
"I tried to go upstairs, I was an hour ago in the room." Raihan and Skylar walked quickly to Neil's room but he couldn't find Neil there. Only empty rooms with tightly closed windows.
Skylar's hands started to cool, then his father spoke again. "Neil doesn't mess around now. I'm in the room, you're not there."
There was a faint noise. "My dad is real, I'm in the room. We had dinner."
Raihan and Skylar fell silently digesting Neil's implausible words. "Neil's just come home. I'm in your empty room."
Neil sounded panicked at the other end. "I'm in my room, dad, there's no dad in the room."
They were silent for a long time, then Neil spoke again in a whisper, "Dad's outside my room?"
While calling, Raihan photographed Neil's empty room with a date in his photo caption and sent it to Neil.
Neil increasingly panicked making Skylar frustrated and unable to help with all the irregularities that occurred, making Skylar feel increasingly useless. "Dad? Where's my dad? Where am my father?"
Raihan also became panicked he paced back and forth in Neil's room because he couldn't do anything. How could one person be in a different place" Neil calmed down? Don't hang up here."
Neil whispered very quietly on the phone, Neil's anxiety creeping toward Raihan and Skylar created a sense of tightness in Skylar's chest. "I went into my room, but why don't you have a cell phone?"
"Where is my father? Who are they?" Instantly the connection was disconnected.
"What just happened, Dad?" Skylar shook his father's arm asking for answers, even though he knew his father was equally unaware.
Just be quiet. Did not respond to Skylar's words.
"Dad, where's Big Brother?" asked Skylar once more.
"It doesn't make sense."
